We're seeking a seasoned CPA to join us as Controller, with a clear trajectory toward assuming the role of Chief Financial Officer within 5 to 8 years.

Role Overview

As Controller, you will oversee financial reporting, compliance, budgeting, and internal controls across our group. You’ll work closely with executive leadership, external advisors, and operational teams to ensure financial integrity and strategic alignment. This role is designed for a high-performing professional ready to evolve into a CFO.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead and manage all accounting operations, including consolidation across entities
• Oversee financial reporting, tax compliance, and regulatory filings (CRA, provincial bodies)
• Develop and monitor internal controls and risk management frameworks
• Support strategic planning, M&A evaluations, and capital structure decisions
• Liaise with auditors, legal counsel, and financial institutions
• Mentor junior finance and administrative staff and build scalable financial systems
• Collaborate with executive leadership on long-term financial strategy

Qualifications

• CPA designation
• Experience primarily with owner managed businesses.
• Experience with multi-entity or group structures
• Strong command of Canadian GAAP, personal and corporate tax compliance.
• Experience with financial modeling, budgeting, and strategic planning
• Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills
• Familiarity with Sage or similar platforms.

Career Path

This role is structured as a CFO succession track. The successful candidate will be mentored by current leadership, exposed to strategic decision-making, and gradually assume broader financial responsibilities over a 5 to 8-year horizon.
