Accounting and Finance Opportunities for CPA-BC Career Week Participants

Swim Recruiting has been recruiting, representing, and placing Accounting & Finance professionals of all levels since 2007. It’s one of our two primary areas of specialization. We partner with CPA students and designated CPAs on their job searches.

Private companies, publicly-listed companies, public sector organizations, not-for-profit organizations (NPO), family offices, start-ups, etc. Companies with $5M to over $10B in revenue.

Typical job titles for positions we are recruit on include: Accountant, Financial Analyst, Internal Auditor, Financial Reporting, Accounts Payable & Accounts Receivable, Corporate Development, Tax, Treasury, Risk Management & Controls, Controller, etc.

At SWIM we recruit on opportunities from entry level (suitable to a recent University graduate with under 1 year of work experience) right on up to CFO level. Individual contributor roles and top leadership roles.

We work on roles that are both contract (anywhere from 1 month to over 1 year) and permanent. Roles can be full-time or part-time. Depending on the client, the work arrangements can be full-time in-office, hybrid, or fully remote, entirely based in one location or with work travel.

Who- the Candidates:

Our clients often ask us to find them candidates who have excellent communication skills (verbal and written), a strong work ethic, a professional and friendly demeanour, and a collaborative approach to work.

Good system skills are often asked for, particularly proficiency with Excel and familiarity with financial systems and/or ERPs.

How Much:

Many of our clients provide compensation packages beyond “just the base salary”. Additional components can include a performance-based bonus, an RRSP match or pension plan, health/dental/vision benefits, paid time off over the minimum of 2 weeks’ vacation, annual health allowance, an employee share purchase program, a profit share program, employee discounts on products, a transportation or transit subsidy, etc.

A lot of our clients will also financially support a new accounting & finance employee as they pursue their CPA designation or will cover costs for their new hire to maintain their CPA (annual membership fees and professional development courses).

Compensation packages vary from role to role and company to company! Recruiters at SWIM can discuss the components of each opportunity’s compensation package with qualified candidates.

For temporary contract positions, compensation is normally a direct hourly rate plus 4% vacation pay.

Where:

Many of the companies we partner with are headquartered in Greater Vancouver. We also work with global companies that are based elsewhere but have operations in BC. The majority of accounting & finance opportunities we represent are based in the Lower Mainland, but we also work on some opportunities elsewhere in BC, across Canada, and occasionally in the US (most recently Washington, California, and Texas).
