We are looking for a talented Conveyance Team Lead to oversee the planning and engineering design of water infrastructure projects in Saskatchewan, covering linear and vertical conveyance, water resources, and civil site design.
The position is part of Stantec’s hybrid work environment, requiring on‑site presence at least three days a week while collaborating with a wide range of technical disciplines.
Key Responsibilities
People Management

Business Development
- Lead strategic business development initiatives to expand the team’s portfolio and identify emerging market needs.
- Cultivate and maintain strong client relationships through regular engagement, technical discussions, and industry events.
- Oversee proposal development efforts by coordinating with technical teams, shaping win themes, and ensuring proposals meet technical, commercial, and branding standards.
- Serve as a primary client‑facing representative for business development meetings, interviews, presentations, and project scoping discussions.
- Develop scopes of work, cost estimates, and level‑of‑effort documents that align with client expectations and regulatory requirements.
- Collaborate across multiple business lines to identify integrated project opportunities and strengthen cross‑disciplinary pursuits.
- Conduct quality reviews of proposals, marketing materials, and client deliverables to ensure alignment with company standards and strategic objectives.
- Support key account planning by contributing market intelligence, client feedback, and technical insights.
- Represent the firm at industry events and conferences to build visibility and stay current on market trends.
- Mentor junior staff in business development practices.
Project Execution
- Have ten (10) years of conveyance engineering or project management experience.
- Perform complex engineering design tasks for water‑related projects, including grading, drainage, pipe sizing, pump sizing, hydraulic and hydrologic modeling, and site serviceability.
- Produce engineering drawings such as plan, profile, section, process flow diagrams (PFDs), and piping and instrumentation diagrams (PIDs).
- Prepare engineering reports, including basis of design documents, technical memorandums, and design reports.
- Conduct feasibility studies and present to clients, regulatory agencies, and stakeholders.
- Perform quality reviews.
- Work independently and with the Leadership Team to manage multiple projects, maintain client relationships, and secure new business.
- Lead design and construction projects, managing scope, quality review process, budget, staffing, schedule, and contractual requirements.
- Collaborate with discipline‑specific PMs and technical leads to promote work sharing and resource planning.
- Drive consistency in project delivery, resource planning, staff development, and adoption of best practices.
- Assign, review, and evaluate work for technical accuracy and completeness; provide technical guidance.
- Perform other duties of similar nature and level as assigned.
Your Capabilities and Credentials
- Professional Engineer designation with APEGS, or eligibility for registration with APEGS.
- Strong leadership, problem‑solving, and decision‑making skills in managing people.
- Results‑oriented leadership style focused on delivering goals and objectives.
- Experience leading conveyance or water resources design teams to finalize preliminary and detailed engineering design packages.
- Strong communication skills, including mentoring junior staff and authoring professional papers and presentations.
- Strong design leadership and client relationship building skills.
- Understanding of local and regional jurisdictional codes, legal, and design requirements.
- Understanding of construction methods such as open‑cut and trenchless (microtunneling, jack and bore) for sewer and water infrastructure is an asset.
- Understanding of water, storm, and sanitary sewer rehabilitation is an asset.
- Knowledge of conveyance system construction elements to select construction methods and define work area limits.
- Experience and expertise in designing conveyance projects in urbanized, congested areas.
Education and Experience
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering from an accredited post‑secondary institute; related graduate degree is an asset.
- Experience: Minimum of 10 years of related experience in project management, preferably for conveyance or water resources infrastructure design projects.
- Licensure: Licensed Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) or ability to obtain license within 6 months.
- Project Management Professional (PMP) is a plus.
- Demonstrated successful experience in leadership, strategy development, change management, and corporate stewardship.
- Successful experience in leading teams within projects and proven leadership skills.
- Experience in the consulting engineering environment and project management is an asset.
Pay Transparency
In compliance with pay transparency laws, pay ranges are provided for positions in locations where required. The final compensation is based on individual education, qualifications, experience, and work location. Stantec roles may be bonus eligible. Actual compensation for part‑time roles is pro‑rated.
