Network Engineer

We are hiring a Network Engineer to work with one of our clients based in Montreal.

Mission

The Network Engineer will be accountable for supervising, aiding, and administering the client's decentralized LAN / WAN setups across North America, encompassing market access and trading systems with multicast capabilities.

They should have a grasp of a diverse range of technologies and operating systems, enabling them to devise and execute network solutions.

Additionally, occasional regional travel and the capability to offer round-the-clock support are necessary.

Responsabilities

  • Provide support at various levels (1st, 2nd, 3rd) for WIFI, corporate LAN, MAN, and WAN infrastructure. Collaborate with the production architecture team to gather requirements and implement network infrastructure.
  • Work alongside system support colleagues to troubleshoot complex, cross-platform issues. Assess emerging network technologies and align them with the client’s business strategy.
  • Monitor the service management system to ensure effective handling of operational issues. Enforce standard practices within the team, including adherence to security and corporate IT policies.
  • Maintain close communication with counterparts to define and adhere strictly to local and global technology standards.
  • Offer day-to-day support for existing network infrastructure and implement new infrastructure as needed per project.
  • Proactively suggest projects based on monitoring, past experience, and hardware knowledge.
  • Participate in an on-call rotation for after-hours escalation.
  • Adhere to ITP Policies and Procedures, including Change Control and timesheets.
  • Experience in supporting market access and trading infrastructure environments is preferred.
  • Possess thorough knowledge of network management products and proficiency with ITP-standard monitoring tools like Micro Focus, HP Network Automation, Zabbix, and Solarwinds.
  • Demonstrate a deep understanding of TCP / IP fundamentals and networking technologies such as Metro Ethernet, Gigabit Ethernet, DWDM, and TDM.
  • Proficient in routing protocols including BGP, OSPF, Multicast, PIM, IGMP, DHCP, and DNS.
  • Experience with optical systems, specifically ADVA supporting 10G, 40G, 100G, and FC.
  • Detailed knowledge of Cisco products including Catalyst and Nexus switching platforms, ISR and ASR routing platforms, Juniper EX switches, Cisco ISE, and ADVA FSP150 and FSP3000 platforms.
  • Familiarity with Python and automation is advantageous.

Must have :

Detailed knowledge of Cisco products including the Cisco Catalyst and Nexus switching platforms, Cisco ISR and ASR routing platforms and Juniper EX switches

  • Juniper EX3400 and EX4300 platforms
  • Cisco ASR 920 platforms
  • Cisco Catalyst 9300 and 9500 platforms
  • Cisco ISR 4300 and 4400 platforms
  • Cisco ISE platforms
  • ADVA FSP150 and FSP3000 platforms
  • Cisco Wireless 9800 platforms

Thorough understanding of routing protocols such as routing, switching and other protocols

  • OSPF
  • Multicast
  • IGMP
  • DHCP
  • Experience with leading and managing projects from beginning to completion
  • Experience with diagnosing and troubleshooting complex network issues
  • Experience with working in a financial organization or good understanding of managing risk and completing tasks with tight deadlines
  • Experience with working in a fast-paced environment

Preferred Qualifications :

  • Minimum of 5+years of professional experience
  • IT Development / Infrastructure background (Developer, DevOps, System Admin)
  • Financial Services background

Education

Bachelor’s degree in computer science / information systems or related field and / or sufficient professional work experience in similar position.
