Lead Hand - Edmonton, AB

Killam Apartment REIT, based in Halifax, Nova Scotia, is one of Canada's largest residential real estate investment trusts, owning, operating, and developing a $5.3 billion portfolio of apartments and manufactured home communities. Killam's strategy to drive value and profitability focuses on three priorities: (1) increase earnings from the existing portfolio; (2) expand the portfolio and diversify geographically through accretive acquisitions, targeting newer properties and dispositions of non-core assets; and (3) develop high-quality properties in its core markets.

We are currently searching for a Lead Hand to join our team in Edmonton, AB. This is an exciting and challenging position in a growth-oriented organization. If you are a team player with proven ability to excel in a dynamic, fast-paced environment this may be the opportunity for you.

What you will do:

•Fit and install trim items, such as doors, stairs, molding and hardware;

•Maintain, repair and renovate residences;

•General maintenance and/or painting;

•Knowledge of plumbing, minor electrical, carpentry, etc.;

•On call rotation required;

•Distribute work orders;

•Coordinate and supervise maintenance staff to address property needs;

•Work with property managers and outside contractors;

•Obtain quotes on behalf of Maintenance and Project Managers;

•Maintain a safe and economical operation of all systems and equipment;

•Coach and provide feedback to staff;

•Other duties, as required.

Who you are:

•3 – 5 years’ experience in a similar role;

•Ability to work as a team, and also under minimal supervision;

•Effective, proven skills and experience;

•Renovations experience an asset;

•Plumbing, electrical, or HVAC experience an asset;

•Must have a valid Alberta driver’s license and access to a reliable vehicle.
