Rivet & Clinch Joining Engineer / Specialist
Knowledge of Henrob and TOX equipment is required
This role is responsible for supporting, developing, and optimizing rivet and clinch joining processes within a high-volume automotive manufacturing environment . The position focuses on mechanical joining technologies , ensuring robust, repeatable, and cost-effective assembly solutions for mixed-material structures including aluminum, high-strength steel, and advanced alloys .
The ideal candidate brings hands-on experience with self-piercing rivets (SPR) , clinch joining , and orbital riveting systems , along with strong knowledge of Henrob riveting equipment and TOX clinching systems . A solid understanding of joining fundamentals, tooling, process control, and quality validation is essential.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop, implement, and optimize rivet and clinch joining processes for automotive body, chassis, and structural assemblies
- Support production systems utilizing self-piercing rivets (SPR) , solid rivets , and clinch joining technologies
- Apply and troubleshoot Henrob orbital riveting equipment and TOX clinch systems in manual and automated applications
- Define and validate joining process parameters , including force, stroke, clamp load, energy, and cycle time
- Troubleshoot joining issues related to material stack-ups, joint quality, tooling wear, and fastener performance
- Collaborate with manufacturing, design, quality, and suppliers to ensure joint integrity and durability requirements
- Support process validation, run-at-rate activities, and capability studies (Cp / Cpk)
- Specify and evaluate joining tooling, fixtures, rivet guns, clinch heads, and automation equipment
- Support PFMEA, control plans, standardized work, and production documentation
- Drive continuous improvement initiatives focused on joining quality, efficiency, and cost reduction
Required Qualifications
Hands-on experience with rivet and clinch joining processes in a manufacturing environmentStrong working knowledge of Henrob riveting equipment and TOX clinch systemsExperience with self-piercing rivets (SPR) and mechanical fastening technologiesUnderstanding of mechanical joint design and material behaviorExperience in automotive or high-volume manufacturingAbility to read and interpret engineering drawings, joining specifications, and GD&TProven experience in production troubleshooting and root cause analysisPreferred Qualifications
