Consulting Telecommunications Analyst (Network Architect)
Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey, is seeking a Consulting Telecommunications Analyst for the Office of Information Technology.
This position will play a pivotal role in designing, implementing, and optimizing these services to ensure high availability, scalability, and reliability across our infrastructure.
Among the key duties of this position are the following :
- Provides technical leadership within EI, OIT organizations, and IT partners in the University in the planning and implementation of complex concepts and / or projects requiring significant expertise.
- Participates on teams within the university to address technological issues and regulations, performs the analysis of vendor supplied software and hardware, then determines the optimum configuration for interfaces between hardware and application systems.
- Promotes processes, through automation, advocating for changes that improve reliability and agility.
- Engages in and improves the lifecycle for both service delivery infrastructure and its supporting services.
- Maintains, monitors and improves systems and services for NOA and Enterprise Infrastructure.
- Shares and disseminates knowledge among other staff and researchers.
Qualifications :
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
- A minimum of 8 years of equivalent experience working in the telecommunications networking and computing industry with progressively increasing positions of technical expertise.
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities :
- Experience in telecommunications networking and computing.
- Proven experience in designing and implementing enterprise-level networks; BGP, MPLS, (L3 VPN and EVPN).
- Experience with various vendors (Juniper, Cisco).
- Network Monitoring, Network Automation, Data Visualization, and related technologies.
- Skilled in network automation tools such as Python, Nornir, and NetDevOps frameworks.
- Strong understanding of data visualization tools and techniques, particularly Grafana.
- Experience in data discovery and auditing methodologies.
- In-depth knowledge of technology capital management practices, including lifecycle management and financial planning.
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills with a strong attention to detail.
- Ability to communicate effectively with technical teams, stakeholders, and senior management.
- Industry certifications (e.g., CCIE, CISSP, AWS Certified Solutions Architect) are a plus.
Preferred Qualifications :
- Prefers ten years of telecommunications networking and computing.
- Juniper and Cisco routing, switching and firewall hardware.
- Linux and Windows desktops and servers.
- Infoblox NIOS.
- NetMRI.
- Splunk.
- Python / PERL.
Physical Demands and Work Environment :
- This individual spends time working in a standard office environment and in the field, providing support for IT equipment and infrastructure.
- The office environment is standard; however, the field environments vary from site to site.
- While performing the duties of this job, the individual is frequently required to reach with hands and arms, bend, stoop, twist, crouch / squat, kneel / crawl, sit and stand, regularly lift, carry, push, pull, and move up to 75 pounds.
Use their hands to handle tools, cabling, and equipment.
