Hospital Practice Experience Lead, College of Pharmacy and Nutrition
Primary Purpose : The Hospital Practice Experience Lead, as a member of the Experiential Learning (EL) Office, will support the creation and organization of service learning and pharmacy practice experiences in community, hospital, and other related settings, for students in the Doctor of Pharmacy (PharmD) Experiential Learning program.
Nature of Work : The goal of the PharmD program is to train pharmacists who use their medication therapy expertise to benefit patients, communities, and populations. Experiential learning plays a significant role in ensuring students develop and graduate with the knowledge, skills, and attitudes required to demonstrate entry-to-practice competencies.
Reporting to the Director, Pharmacy Experiential Learning, the successful candidate will function with a high level of independence, decision-making, and accountability. This position also requires short, medium, and long-term planning, and the ability to build and maintain strong relationships with students, faculty, staff, preceptors, and other external partners and collaborators.
Accountabilities : As a member of the EL Office, the successful candidate will be responsible for developing and implementing initiatives that enhance the experiences and development of PharmD students and preceptors. Activities related to this include :
Qualifications
Education : A first professional degree in Pharmacy ( Bachelor’s degree or PharmD) is required. A graduate-level degree (, MSc, MBA, PhD, Post-baccalaureate PharmD, etc.) is an asset.
Licenses : The successful applicant must be licensed (or eligible to be licensed) to practice pharmacy in Saskatchewan.
Experience : A minimum of three years of practice experience is required. Preference will be given to candidates with current hospital / healthcare-systems pharmacy experience. Previous teaching and evaluation of students and experience with assessment methodologies and / or quality assurance strategies considered an asset.
Skills : Demonstrated understanding of current and evolving pharmacy practice and entry-to-practice requirements and competencies; ability to work independently and as part of a team; excellent interpersonal and communication skills; exemplary written communication; effective time management and organizational skills; self-motivation and high level of initiative; ability to effectively embrace change in a fast-paced, dynamic environment; familiarity with Microsoft Office, Canvas, CORE Experiential Learning Management System, Articulate, Canva, and Cascade is considered an asset.
