Journeyman Pipefitter – Fabrication Shop

OCL Group Inc. (OCL), a Canadian employee‑owned general contractor, offers integrated construction and design‑build solutions across Western Canada. With expertise in industrial, heavy civil, oil and gas, and mining sectors since 2009, our Fabrication shop specializes in design and fabrication of pressure piping, fittings, and vessels using alloy materials and advanced welding processes.

The Role

This full‑time, shop‑based position runs Monday to Friday with day and night shifts available. Future duties may include overtime, weekend shifts, or short‑term field work.

Competitive wage with excellent hourly compensation
Overtime after 8 hours per day
6 % vacation pay and 4 % statutory holiday pay on all regular hours
Benefits after 90 days (50 % employer‑paid)

Responsibilities & Duties

Maintain equipment

Read blueprints and specifications

Layout, assemble, fabricate, maintain, and repair piping systems carrying water, steam, chemicals, or fuel used in heating, cooling, lubricating, and other processes

Demonstrate knowledge of functional operation of piping system components by measuring, cutting, threading, and grooving pipes, valves, and fittings

Layout, assemble, fabricate, maintain, and repair pressurized piping systems

Hydrotest and install fabricated pipe spools within structural steel modular assemblies, adding designed supports as required

Use testing equipment to check for system leaks and troubleshoot fitting errors

Maintain all tools, work area, and equipment in a clean, orderly fashion

Read and interpret client and company construction fabrication drawings and specifications

Red‑line update drawings to as‑built condition

Ensure FLRA is completed at the beginning of every job and work is completed safely

Complete equipment maintenance in line with OCL Group and industry standards, procedures, and practices

May perform other related duties as assigned

Maintain shop cleanliness

Previous fabrication shop experience is an asset

Reliable with a strong work ethic

Good attention to detail

Ability to work independently and as part of a team

Versatile and flexible – able to work in the field or on a project as needed

Motivated self‑starter

Eager to learn, develop, and grow

Prioritizes workmanship to achieve zero repair rate

Prioritizes safety, document control, lock‑up procedures, and preventative maintenance

Excellent English communication skills required

Ability to follow directions

Performs well under pressure and tight deadlines

Experience, Education & Qualifications

Registered Journeyman Pipefitter

Previous experience in a shop or industrial fabrication environment

CSTS 2020 Fundamentals (includes WHMIS 2015)

May be required to complete a pre‑access drug and alcohol test when working on certain sites

May need certain safety tickets and complete site‑specific orientations for certain sites

Class 5 driver’s license with reliable transportation

Legally eligible to work in Canada
