Family Physician

Job Description

The Saskatchewan Health Authority is seeking a family physician to provide physician services in the Assiniboia Union Hospital and Red Coat Primary Health Care Clinic located in the Town of Assiniboia. The Assiniboia medical practice includes all aspects of family medicine including acute care, Diagnostics / X-Ray, 24 / 7 Emergency Room, Long Term Care and Lab. Physicians will provide patient care and on call emergency coverage. This physician will work closely with nurses, and other members of the health care team to meet the specific needs of this community and its surrounding area. This position works with 4 other fellow physicians to provide emergency room on-call coverage for the community hospital and visiting rural clinics.

A comprehensive range of health services are provided in Assiniboia. The hospital has 16 acute-care beds with 24-hour emergency on-call services and full laboratory services. There is also a personal care home offering Level 1 and 2 care and two long term care facilities offering Level 3 and 4 care.

Relocation Package

The successful candidate may be eligible for :

• The which provides up to $200,000 over five years to family physicians practicing, or returning to practice, in rural and remote communities in Saskatchewan
• The , which provides financial reward to physicians who practice in the province for extended periods ranging from $3,500 - $7,000

Job Qualifications

The successful candidate will hold certification from the . Preference will be given to University of Saskatchewan graduates and individuals with strong ties to Saskatchewan. Candidates should be eligible for regular license though the . This individual should be a team player, be able to interact effectively with patients, colleagues, staff and management, and function well in a high volume environment with a commitment to provision of high quality patient and family-centered care. In accordance with immigration requirements, preference will be given to Canadian citizens and permanent residents of Canada.
