Core activities include road construction, asphalt paving, aggregate production, hot mix asphalt and ready‑mix concrete supply, and acting as a general contractor on civil construction projects such as excavation, utilities, concrete placement, sidewalks and curbs.

Mission
Terus Construction, a division of Colas Western Canada Inc., is seeking a Project Coordinator to join our team in Cranbrook, BC. The Project Coordinator is responsible for coordination of all site activities and is deemed the site designate. They handle communication and requests from owners, consultants, subcontractors, Project Managers and Superintendents, monitor compliance with quality control measures for field processes, and maintain records for all projects.
Main Responsibilities
- Responsible for project file set up and activity cost coding, preparation and distribution of job packages to facilitate field operations, and maintaining safety and other project documentation in file.
- Monitor subcontractors for compliance, including review and enforcement of Sub‑Contractor Checklist (current utility locates, proper PPE, etc.) and report any violations to the Manager.
- Support and lead all aspects of the company safety program and regulations, including completing formal safety inspections and reports as required.
- Ensure subcontractors perform their scope of work to design standards and specifications.
- Maintain up‑to‑date utility locates to ensure the site is ready for company personnel.
- Plan, organize, direct, control, and evaluate construction projects from start to finish according to schedule, specifications, and budget.
- Prepare and submit construction project budget estimates.
- Plan and prepare construction schedules and milestones, and monitor progress against established schedules.
- Prepare contracts and negotiate revisions, changes and additions to contractual agreements with architects, consultants, clients, suppliers and subcontractors.
- Develop and implement quality control programs.
- Represent the company in business services and union contract negotiations.
- Prepare progress reports and issue progress schedules to clients.
- Hire and supervise the activities of subcontractors and subordinate staff.
- Act as a company representative at all site meetings and as a point of contact for field‑level questions regarding a project.
- Collect and confirm field quantities for month‑end progress submissions.
- Record valuable information regarding the execution of a project and issues during construction.
- Collect weekly project costing updates.
- Perform project estimating functions as required, including maintaining tendered and negotiated changes.
- Maintain an accurate project budget with regard to change orders.
- Maintain up‑to‑date short‑term work schedules of active projects involved.
- Participate in and adopt the principles described in the company safety program.
- Perform duties safely around mobile equipment with a high sense of safety awareness.
- Ensure understanding of and compliance with the company’s Code of Ethics.
- Other duties as required.
Employment Requirements
Ability to understand construction drawings and specifications.Knowledge of construction equipment, materials and processes.Working knowledge of Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, etc.).Knowledge or ability to learn estimating software including Heavy Job and Heavy Bid.Strong management, delegation, planning and leadership skills.Commitment to enforcing company policies and procedures.High level of time management, independent judgment and reasoning.Ability to exercise cost control measures.The anticipated salary range for this position is $70,000 – $83,000 CAD per year. The final compensation package will be determined based on factors including the candidate’s job‑related knowledge, skills and experience.
