The Chief, Facilities Management lead teams of supervisors, maintenance specialists and trades (plumbers, electricians, millwrights, mechanics, building technicians, Heating plant operators, etc.

in a challenging and dynamic environment with emphasis on security, health and safety and resources efficiency. Their teams provide corrective and preventive maintenance, repair and improvement services to their respective institution cluster.

The Correctional Service of Canada (CSC) is the federal government agency responsible for administering sentences of a term of two years or more, as imposed by the courts.

CSC is responsible for managing institutions of various security levels and supervising offenders under conditional release in the community.

Intent of the process

The intent of the process is to initially staff one position on an indeterminate (permanent) basis at Bath / Millhaven Institution.

A qualified pool of candidates will be established and may be used to staff future indeterminate and temporary vacancies for Chief, Facilities Management positions in Kingston, ON.

EDUCATION

Possession of a Provincial Trade Certification in a building trade OR an acceptable combination of education, training, and experience

EXPERIENCE

  • Experience coordinating maintenance activities in a large complex*
  • Large complex can be defined as a correctional institution, hospital, airport, shopping mall, university, etc.
  • Experience in the management of human resources

Approximately one year of performance management as a supervisor

Human resources management means that candidates had the responsibility of direct supervision of a team of employees, mainly in the activities in the indicated field (project management or infrastructure).

Examples of human resources management responsibilities include task allocation, performance management, developing resourcing plans, determining needs and training approval, etc.

ORGANIZATIONAL NEEDS

  • Willingness to perform duties at any of the locations within the cluster for which this position serves

SELECTION PROCESS STAGES

This selection process has three stages :

Stage 1 - Screening

The applications will be reviewed (screened), specifically the responses to the three (3) questions assessing the essential education and experience imbedded in this job advertisement.

Stage 2 - Interview

Interviews, anticipated to commence in September 2024, may be completed in person or by Microsoft (MS) Teams.

Stage 3 - Reference Checks

Two references will be requested during stage 2. References may be contacted in September / October 2024.

Candidates may be asked to complete a questionnaire on asset qualifications (experience) at any stage of the process.

Volume management methods may be utilized, specifically by focusing on those candidates who meet the asset qualifications.
