Senior Mortgage Underwriter (Residential) – Remote (Canada), PST Hours

Fully remote mortgage underwriting role in the insurance industry. Support national residential files with a focus on Western Canada. Use your risk assessment skills and mortgage expertise in a dynamic fast-paced setting. Ideal for candidates with 5 years experience and a bachelors degree in a related field such as business finance or economics.

Salaried: $41-47 per hour.

Incorporated Business Rate: $50-56 per hour.

12-month contract.

Full-time position: 37.50 hours per week.

Weekday schedule from 9 am to 5 pm.

Manage the underwriting of residential mortgage applications with sound financial judgment within delegated limits.

Assess full mortgage files for risk ensuring adherence to internal guidelines and policies.

Review and evaluate documents submitted by sales partners for accuracy and compliance.

Maintain complete documentation for audit and reporting purposes.

Communicate effectively with internal stakeholders especially sales partners to ensure clarity and alignment.

Handle a high volume of files efficiently while maintaining strong attention to detail.

Contribute to national underwriting coverage with a primary focus on the Western region.

Participate in cross-training initiatives across the broader underwriting team.

Bachelors degree in business finance economics or a related field is preferred and considered a strong asset.

5 years of underwriting experience ideally within residential mortgages.

Experience working in or with financial institutions is a strong asset.

Demonstrated expertise in mortgage risk assessment and decision-making.

Strong time management skills and ability to meet deadlines under pressure.

High attention to detail and ability to manage multiple files simultaneously.

Comfortable building relationships in a collaborative remote work environment.
