Job Responsibilities
Strategic Leadership :
- Develop and implement long-term strategies to promote economic growth and regional competitiveness.
- Align organizational goals with community needs and stakeholder priorities.
Economic Development Initiatives :
Lead efforts to attract andretainbusinesses, support entrepreneurship, and foster workforce development.Identifyand promote investment opportunities, infrastructure enhancements, and innovation hubs.Stakeholder Engagement :
Serve as the primary liaison to government agencies, business leaders, and community organizations.Represent the organization in public forums, media, and policy discussions.Organizational Management :
Oversee daily operations, staff performance, and financial health.Ensure compliance with legal, ethical, and governance standards.Qualifications
Education : abachelor’s or master’s degree in business administration, economics, urban planning, public administration, or related field.Experience : - Minimum of 10 years in executive leadership, preferably within economic development, public-private partnerships, or non-profit management.Demonstrated success in strategic planning, fundraising, and stakeholder engagement.Experience in the civil construction industry.Experience in industrial and commercial trade.Experience in project managementExperience in startup business development.Skills :
Strong leadership and communication abilities.In-depth understanding of regional economic trends, policy, and development tools.Financialexpertiseandproficiencyin budget management.Abilityto build coalitions across government, business, and community sectors.Excellent work ethic and the drive to meetobjectivesand achieve positive results.Clear and effective communication skills for diverse situations and audiences.Proven ability to lead andfacilitatemeetings, clarifying decisions and actions.Effective delegation, coaching, andmentoring ofstaff.Familiarity with legislation and legal decisionsimpactingIndigenous communities in Atlantic Canada.Demonstrated capacity to manage complex projects and competing priorities.Ability tomaintainaccuraterecords and ensure confidentiality.Proventrack recordin leading strategic and operational planning within a dynamic organization.Assets :
Knowledge of New Brunswick’sIndigenouspeoples and issues related tocommunitiesand Treaty Rights.Direct experience working with or forIndigenousCommunities.Experience collaborating with Indigenous political leaders.Experience reporting to a Board of Directors and ensuring robust organizational governance and clear boundaries between governance and operations.Skill inidentifyingareas for improvement and implementing changes to policies, procedures, and programs.Support for recruiting andretainingIndigenous staff.Experience navigating challenging government relations whilemaintainingkey contacts.Experience with Nation Building among First Nations communities.Leadership experience in a trauma-informed work environment.Remuneration iscommensuratewith qualifications and experience.The Salary Range for this position is $90,000.00 - $150,000.00.WolastoqeyEconomic Development Corporation offers competitive salaries and benefits to employees.The workinglocation is in New Brunswick, preferably within theWolastoqeyNation(some hybrid work may berequiredinitially).
