Role Description
Reporting to the Director of Projects, the Electrical Estimator will be responsible for performing thorough and accurate quantity take-offs for a variety of Light Industrial, Commercial, and Institutional projects.
In addition to take-offs, the successful candidate will also participate in the development of project schedules, execution plans, and submittal documents.
As a natural relationship builder, the Electrical Estimator will also create and strengthen relationships with suppliers and sub-trades to ensure sound and competitive pricing is obtained.

Your responsibilities will include :
- Attend site visits, reviewing and critically analyzing tender documents to gain a clear understanding of the scope of work being performed;
- Perform take-offs, obtaining pricing from supply chain channels, participating in the development of project schedule and execution plans, and preparing submittal documents;
- Develop bid preparation schedule, identifying the tasks, assignments, and deadlines, for preparation of more complex bids;
- Develop and adhere to estimate breakdown standards, compiling a risk register for management review, and preparing submittal documents;
- Complete post-bid analyses, using historical data for continuous improvement purposes;
- Collaborate with other business functions such as Procurement, Quality Control, Planning / Scheduling, and Project Coordination;
- Establish strong relationships with suppliers and sub-trades to ensure sound and competitive pricing is received.
Qualifications
As the ideal candidate, you have a passion for construction coupled with experience successfully completing estimates for projects with a mechanical and electrical scope.
You are comfortable working in a fast-paced, ever-changing environment, and have a consistent and keen eye for detail. Lastly, you are a natural people-person, with a demonstrated ability to develop relationships with key stakeholders, negotiating competitive pricing along the way.
Your qualifications will include :
- Minimum of 5 years’ progressive experience in construction cost estimating, with a specific focus on electrical scopes of work;
- Electrical Engineering Degree, Diploma, or Trade Certification;
- Experience working with estimating software such as Bluebeam and Accubid / Trimble;
- Demonstrated ability to work under pressure while maintaining accuracy, prioritizing tasks and meeting deadlines;
- Demonstrated ability to work both independently and collaboratively with others;
- Attention to detail, coupled with strong mathematical / analytical skills, and the ability to read and interpret complex construction documents and drawings;
- Ability to build positive working relationships with internal and external clients and stakeholders.
