Senior Product Developer - Dairy Products

Our client is a growing and successful midsized food manufacturing company located in Mississauga, and they have an immediate need for a Senior Product Developer.

This role will be responsible for developing new products and maintaining existing products with an emphasis in dairy applications.

Requirements

  • Create and bring to market functional blends, stabilizer blends, and seasoning blend formulas, progressing from theoretical to test batch to full production.
  • Develop a diverse range of applications showcasing ingredient functionality and attributes, with a heightened emphasis on dairy applications to bolster sales across various sectors.
  • Engage with customers as needed to provide technical expertise and product solutions, showcasing new product features and capabilities through application examples.
  • Formulate, test, and optimize formulas and processes to align with nutritional and quality specifications, considering customer, regulatory, and cost requirements.
  • Prepare lab samples for customer submissions or testing, maintaining meticulous documentation of formulas and methodologies derived from lab and plant trials.
  • Conduct sensory evaluations, establish product specifications, assess shelf-life, gather and analyze product data, and refine formulas for production optimization.
  • Stay abreast of food trends and data, leveraging insights to innovate and devise new concepts for customer presentations.
  • Collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams such as Sales, Operations, Quality, and Purchasing to ensure seamless execution of initiatives.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree or higher in Food Science, Dairy Science, or related field from an accredited college or university.
  • 3-6 years of hands-on experience in food manufacturing and dairy products
  • Essential understanding of current raw materials and their functions in dairy applications is a must.
  • Prior experience in a supervisory role is preferred but not required.
  • Proficiency in industry standards like HACCP, ISO, and GFSI.
  • Familiarity with quality practices, procedures, and the ability to manage a HACCP Program.
  • Knowledge of labelling regulations and guidelines.
  • Strong comprehension of production processes and procedures.
  • Outstanding written and verbal communication skills.
  • Collaborative team player with a customer-centric and goal-driven approach.
  • Strong interpersonal abilities and meticulous attention to detail.
