Executive Director

First Nations Health Foundation

Location : West Vancouver, BC

The First Nations Health Authority (FNHA) is the first and only province-wide health authority of its kind in Canada.Established in 2009, the FNHA began a new era in BC First Nations health governance and health care delivery by taking responsibility for the programs and services formerly delivered by Health Canada in 2013.

Today, the FNHA is the health and wellness partner to over 200 diverse First Nations communities and their members across British Columbia.

The FNHA has now established the First Nations Health Foundation (FNHF) to seek private philanthropic support from individuals and companies to support FNHA innovations outside of Government (Federal and Provincial) funding for new and community-driven, Nation-based models.

This provides an opportunity to engage others in FNHA’s work to achieve and transform equitable health care for First Nations in BC.

The organization is now seeking its inaugural Executive Director to build a trusted identity for the First Nations Health Foundation as a unique and model philanthropic organization.

Reporting to the Board of Directors, the Executive Director will be a high energy, strategic leader who will work closely with the Board to inspire a culture of philanthropy, and to achieve the annual FNHF fundraising goals.

As a key ambassador for and the public face of the Foundation, the Executive Director represents and promotes the interests of the Foundation with respect to fundraising and community engagement initiatives.

The ideal candidate brings a track record of successful senior advancement experience, preferably leadership of a medium to large non-profit organization supporting a complex public sector organization.

Through this experience they would’ve gained expertise in fundraising, public relations, marketing and non-profit management.

Ideally can be visionary, persuasive and passionate about First Nations health and wellbeing, the successful candidate will be a strategic leader and an exceptional communicator who can establish trust and credibility both externally and internally.

Knowledge of healthcare issues and health service delivery is an asset, especially public health and First Nations health and wellbeing practices.

The enabling of an organizational culture built on transparency, trust, gratitude, and consultation is key to the role. As such, the Executive Director must be a respected representative of the First Nations Health Foundation and inspire deep engagement with the FNHA community while enhancing the reputation of the organization.

The salary range for this role is $150,000 to $200,000. Dependent on the candidate’s knowledge, skills and experience there may be flexibility with salary placement.

FNHF is currently located in an office in West Vancouver, the FNHF will operate out of a dedicated office space within FNHA’s headquarters, which may be relocated to their new office in North Vancouver.

The First Nations Health Foundation is committed to respecting diversity within our workforce; preference will be given to First Nations people.
