We are currently seeking a Geoscience Technologist to join our Technical Geoscience team. The successful candidate will work within the team to provide geoscience and administrative support throughout ARC’s core districts.
This exciting full-time position is based in Calgary and reports to the Geosciences Technical Manager.
RESPONSIBILITIES :
- Support the development, maintenance, troubleshooting and testing of internally developed geo-analytical tools and platforms
- Work with team to ensure critical objectives are met and manage workflows with regular communication, team meetings, work planning, and opportunity prioritization
- Support technical team Geoscientists via management of geotechnical projects in various software applications, including data curation, loading and quality control, as well as importing / exporting data between programs
- Prepare maps and reports for teams that pertain to reservoir quality, data coverage, volumetrics,
- Condition data for analytical consumption
- Verify, refine and improve how geoscience data flows across the company, ensuring that data governance rules are applied, such as consistent nomenclature, units and file types
- Work with service providers to ensure incoming datasets are in line with ARC’s data formatting and standards policies
- Develop, maintain, and grow corporate geoscience database (well, LAS, core, diagnostics, etc.)
- Write basic SQL queries to help teams access data from available databases
- Enhance and customize Spotfire and PowerBI dashboards that link subsurface information to other disciplines for internal consumption
QUALIFICATIONS :
- A minimum of 10 years of Geoscience or Geological Technician or Technologist experience in the oil and gas industry, ideally accompanied by a Geoscience Technology diploma
- Experience working with subsurface geoscience data (wells, tops, core, LAS, SEGY, Microseismic, etc.)
- Knowledge of LAS logs and creating templates using geoSCOUT LAS Datamanager and IHS Datamanager is considered an asset
- Strong working knowledge of oil and gas software accompanied with an aptitude for continuous learning and experience with any of the following applications would be considered an asset : Petrel, Transform, Seisware, GeoScout, Rok Doc, Spotfire and Power BI
- Basic understanding of Python, SQL and other computer languages would be beneficial
- Demonstrated capability to structure and organize large, complex datasets
- Strong analytical skills and attention to detail
- Exceptional relationship building capabilities and a collaborative working style
- Excellent organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills
- Ability to work independently as well as in a team environment
