Skilled Lead Carpenter

We’re looking for someone with a superb eye for detail, a strong work ethic, and the ability to communicate, coordinate, and plan ahead to add to our team of dedicated & talented Carpenters working on High-end Residential Homes in Toronto.

Must Haves :

  • Own vehicle and valid Ontario driver’s license
  • Own tools and PPE
  • Must own a smart phone with a data plan (Time Clock and Daily Logs will be input from your phone through the Buildertrend App) *Project Management Software experience an asset
  • Live in the Toronto Area and be able to legally work in Ontario
  • Ability to read, understand, and explain Architectural, Mechanical and Structural Drawings and relay details accordingly in English

Qualifications :

  • 7+ Year Framing experience in the High-end Residential Renovation / Custom Home Building field
  • 5+ Years Trim / Finish Carpentry experience
  • 5+ Years Exterior Carpentry experience
  • Proven experience managing Carpenters and Sub-trades
  • Proven ability to work within Deadlines and Budgets
  • Strong Time Management, Decision Making, Delegating, Leadership and Problem Solving skills
  • Strong working knowledge of job site safety and Ontario building codes
  • High standard of integrity, craftsmanship and professionalism
  • Excellent People skills; sub-trades, suppliers, clients, neighbors and SevernWoods staff
  • Ability to lift 50 pounds, climb ladders and scaffolding
  • Certified Red Seal Carpenter an asset, but not required
  • Pay rate dependent on Experience & Skill Level

Responsibilities :

  • Reporting to the Site Supervisor and Project Manager, responsible for leading the on-site crew with delegation of tasks, time management and ensuring site safety
  • Utilizing the Architectural and Structural drawings to construct the house according to all specifications
  • Utilizing Buildertrend to accurately input Time Clock shifts, input Daily Logs & upload progress Photos
  • Be available during work hours to answer questions from anyone on site, employees, sub-trades, clients, refer to Project Manger when needed
  • Participating in weekly on site Goal Set Review Meetings to ensure that carpenters are exceeding production and budgetary goals
  • Follow company policies regarding work hours, time off, change orders, time clock, expenses, etc.
  • Maintain a safe work environment, reporting any unsafe conditions or property damage to Project Manager
  • Responsible for leading the carpentry work on site including framing, beam pockets, finish carpentry, back framing, window installation, bathroom accessories installation and misc items.
  • Complete understanding and facilitation of the following elements of the projects;
  • Demolition
  • Steel installation
  • Foundation and footing forming and pouring
  • Framing carpentry & back framing
  • Finish carpentry & trim work
  • Insulation & drywall
  • Roofing, eaves, soffit and fascia
  • Priming, painting and staining
  • Ordering & installation of exterior siding, cedar, decking and fencing
  • Installation of stairs and railings
  • Installation of doors, door hardware, and bathroom accessories
  • Installation of tiles, flooring and other finishes
  • Installation of Cabinetry, Millwork and Stairs
  • Installation of windows and exterior door systems
  • Installation of interior and exterior insulation
  • Sub-Contracted elements; Masonry, Electrical, Plumbing, Insulation, HVAC, Automation, etc
  • Utilizing Buildertrend to create PO’s, refer to the project budget, upload Photos weekly
  • Working with the Production Coordinator to arrange deliveries, returns or on-site issues as they arise
  • Teach Carpenters & Jr. Carpenters techniques, procedures and best practices when called upon for assistance
  • Ensuring site staff have the tools & equipment they need to complete tasks effectively, if purchasing of a tool is required, relay to Site Supervisor for purchase
  • Ensure that all Health & Safety, PPE and First Aid protocols are followed and enforce Safety Regulations on site with all staff and sub-trades
