Plainsman Mfg. Inc. is looking to hire a DAY shift Saw Operator / material handler for our Machine Shop.

Hours : Monday – Friday; 7 AM-3 : 30 PM.

Plainsman Mfg. Inc. is a locally owned manufacturing and distribution company operating out of Edmonton, Alberta since 1966.

We manufacture and distribute products for oilfield production, pipeline maintenance, construction and gas, and water distribution.

We have an in-house engineering department and a full-service manufacturing facility that enables us to respond efficiently to customer and industry needs.

Responsibilities

Knowledge : High School. Basic Lean principles.

Experience : Saw operating experience; 6 months to 1 year.

Skills : Ability to speak, read, and write English. Running a Hyd-Mech saw. Material handling. Measurement with calipers and tape measure. Machine operation and maintenance. Forklift operation. Troubleshoot small issues and make corrections. Produces quality.

Attitude : Workflow optimization. Desire to learn & improve. Small incremental improvements. Engaged in their work. Accepts overtime and additional duties willingly. Can-do attitude – willing to assist in other tasks as directed.

Habits : Punctual. Organization skills. Prioritizing and balancing workload. Interaction / communication with the rest of the shop. Adhere to the safety program.

Secondary Responsibilities : Miscellaneous tasks as requested by supervisor or manager.

How to Excel in the Role

Team member for large-scale projects.

Assisting in other departments as possible (eg. Receiving raw materials).

The above responsibilities are the basic expectations; any actions above and beyond will be looked at favorably at review time.
