Job Summary :

A curb and gutter concrete worker is tasked with the installation, repair, and maintenance of curbs, gutters, and other concrete structures.

This role involves preparing sites for concrete pouring, setting forms, pouring concrete, finishing surfaces, and ensuring the quality and durability of the finished product.

Salary : $35.00 Per Hour

Location : Fraser Valley, BC

Hours : 7am to 5pm Mon -Fri

Responsibilities :

Site Preparation : Prepare construction sites by clearing debris, excavating trenches, and leveling the ground to create a stable foundation for concrete work.

Formwork Setup : Construct forms using wood, metal, or plastic to outline the shape and dimensions of curbs, gutters, or other concrete structures.

Concrete Pouring : Mix and pour concrete into the prepared forms using concrete mixers and other equipment according to project specifications and industry standards.

Finishing : Smooth and finish concrete surfaces using hand and power tools such as trowels, floats, and screeds to achieve desired texture and appearance.

Jointing : Create control and expansion joints in the concrete to control cracking and allow for expansion and contraction due to temperature changes.

Curing : Apply curing compounds or cover concrete with plastic sheeting to protect it from drying too quickly and ensure proper curing.

Cleanup : Clean and maintain tools, equipment, and work areas to ensure safety and efficiency on the job site.

Quality Control : Inspect finished concrete work for defects, such as cracks, voids, or uneven surfaces, and make necessary repairs or adjustments.

Safety Compliance : Adhere to safety regulations and guidelines to prevent accidents and injuries on the job site.

Communication : Collaborate with supervisors, coworkers, and other construction team members to coordinate work activities and ensure project deadlines are met.

Requirements :

Experience : Previous experience in concrete construction or a related field is preferred.

Physical Stamina : Ability to perform physically demanding tasks, including lifting heavy materials, bending, kneeling, and standing for extended periods.

Manual Dexterity : Proficiency in using hand and power tools to manipulate and finish concrete surfaces with precision.

Attention to Detail : Strong attention to detail to ensure the accuracy and quality of finished concrete work.

Teamwork : Ability to work effectively as part of a team to accomplish project goals and objectives.

Safety Awareness : Knowledge of safety protocols and procedures to maintain a safe work environment for oneself and others.

Education and Certification : While a high school diploma or equivalent is typically required, specific training and certification in concrete construction or masonry may also be beneficial.

Additionally, certifications in safety training such as OSHA 10 or 30-hour Construction Safety are often preferred by employers.
