The Opportunity
Under the direction of the Applications Supervisor the Applications Officer is responsible for the provision of information to the general public concerning eligibility of applicants verifying application information assessing housing applications preparing reports recommending the approval or denial of applications and assigning applicants to units. The incumbent is also responsible for processing all transfer requests from existing applicants and identifying potential applicants where possible vacancy loss exists.

- Provide general information concerning public housing to applicants potential applicants general public and third parties as appropriate.
- Screen applications for eligibility and provide recommendations regarding suitability of applicants.
- Advise applicants regarding their application and wait list placements.
- Identify and refer applicants who may be eligible for priority selection for housing.
- Provide where practical information to applicants regarding suitable alternate housing programs.
- Conduct home visits where appropriate for the purpose of confirming eligibility reviewing suitability and determining housing requirements.
- Prepare necessary follow-up letters and reports after completing home visits in accordance with established policies and procedures.
- Respond to correspondence in a timely manner.
- Prepare and maintain up-to-date applicant files and applicant status including maintaining timely record of applicant contracts.
- Select applicants for available units on a timely basis in accordance with established policies and procedures.
- Ensure that application updates are carried out in accordance with established policies.
- Managing transfers on the waitlist.
