Reporting to the Supervisor, Recreation and Events, the Summer Student, Sports & Active Games Leader position is responsible for :
- To design and conduct a program tailored for playground leaders that guides them in planning interesting sports and active living activities for children of all abilities. Help to include and implement action plans for special needs children and their caregivers.
- To coordinate sports tournaments and special game activities with the assistance of programmers and playground leaders.
- To ensure compliance with leaders on weekly equipment maintenance reports and subsequently make these reports available to the Playground Coordinator for prompt attention to problems.
- To record an inventory of all purchases of portable playground equipment and supplies.
- To conduct pre-season and post-season inventory of all playground equipment and supplies and assist with yearend equipment / supply clean up.
- Responsible to work with programmer to ensure each park has a basic kitbag of essential supplies ready for the opening of the season.
- Provide information to the media on sports activities and special needs component pending approval of the Supervisor, Recreation and Events.
- Plan and facilitate on-the-park sports workshops and activities.
- Assist Playground Coordinator and Playground Leaders in matters of sports, special needs, and / or equipment when needed.
- Assist Playground Coordinator with weekly playground statistic reports.
- Assist with the many Special Events taking place in Lamoureux Park.
- To be a representative of the City of Cornwall and always maintain outstanding public relations skills and professional image.
- All other duties as assigned.

All Summer Students must be Full-time day students at a recognized secondary or post-secondary institution and be returning to full time attendance in the fall of 2026.
