The Role

As a Technical Director, you will be the support point for post-production and audiovisual matters across the entire network, with a primary focus on post-production facilities (Montreal and Toronto) as well as audiovisual operations.

Responsibilities

• Ensure the proper technical functioning and up-to-date inventory of post-production and audiovisual equipment.
• Provide on-demand technical support and maintenance for editing suites, audio and mixing rooms, server rooms, hardware / software, and studio equipment (photo and meeting gear—microphones, etc.).
• Monitor and troubleshoot post-production (systems, render farm, archiving).
• Contribute to the development of complex post-production workflows (multi-camera, technical challenges, new technologies).
• Provide immediate support to on-the-move teams (shooting), producers, and project managers.
• Prepare hybrid approval sessions—set up connections and share playback with external clients.
• Manage frame rate conversions of masters from various sources for broadcaster deliveries.
• Anticipate technical issues and implement problem-solving solutions.
• Oversee the management and monitoring of production servers, software, upgrades, installation and licensing of plug-ins / software, and archiving.
• Act as a liaison with external vendors and support centers.
• Support Magic Circle and Septième in updating best tools and practices.
• Assist and advise clients and agencies.
• Stay informed about new technologies (e.g., artificial intelligence).
