Now Hiring : Product Engineer📍 Location : Halton Region, ON💼 Job Type : Permanent💰 Salary : $80,000 – $120,000 / yearOur client, a leader in the steel manufacturing industry, is seeking a Product Engineer to join their team in the Halton Region, ON. This is a dynamic opportunity to work closely with cross-functional teams and play a key role in product development and lifecycle support, with direct impact on both operations and customer satisfaction.Position OverviewReporting to the VP of Strategy and R&D, the Product Engineer will be responsible for the full product lifecycle—including design, development, and technical support—with a strong focus on customer needs, quality control, and production efficiency. This role requires close collaboration with sales, production plants, and customer sites, ensuring that products meet and exceed performance expectations.The ideal candidate is a hands-on, results-oriented problem solver with strong leadership, technical expertise, and communication skills.Key ResponsibilitiesProvide technical support and resolve product-related issues at production facilities and customer locations.Lead the design and development of new products, including creation of TDS, BOM, item numbers, and metallurgical testing.Analyze market trends, customer feedback, and technical data to recommend improvements or new product formulations.Assist the Sales team with RFQs and contribute to the product development process.Train internal teams on product design and application as needed.Keep sales and production teams informed on product status and customer requirements.Collaborate with multiple departments : Sales, Quality, Operations, Technical, Purchasing, Finance, HSE, and IT.Travel across Canada and the U.S. (up to 50%) to support plant operations, conduct product trials, and meet with clients.Present detailed customer process reports and evaluate trial outcomes to enhance products or introduce new categories.Lead new product testing initiatives and suggest enhancements to design and development processes.Perform other related duties as assigned.Skills & Experience RequiredMandatory experience with molten steel and / or slag design.Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Chemical, Metallurgical, or Materials Science Engineering.Minimum of 5 years’ experience in a similar role or equivalent academic background.Background in the steel industry is essential.Strong proficiency in Microsoft Excel; experience with Python is considered an asset.High level of computer literacy and data analysis skills.Willingness and ability to travel up to 50% within Canada and the U.S.This is a fantastic opportunity for a technically skilled engineer to contribute to a high-impact team, drive innovation, and grow in a fast-paced, hands-on environment.Ready to take your career to the next level?
