You as an HSE Director :
Develop, implement & maintain the project HSE strategy, policies, and procedures.
Promotes and supports a strong safety culture across the project.
Act as the primary point of contact for all HSE related matters within the organization and liaise with regulatory bodies as necessary.
Develop, maintain and execute a risk management framework to proactively identify and mitigate remaining HSE risks for the project.
Investigation and management of HSE incidents, ensuring root causes are identified and corrective / preventive actions are implemented.
Foster a continuous learning environment, promoting the development of HSE skills and knowledge across the organization.
Work closely with project staff to ensure there is confidence and understanding of the HSE regulations, policies and processes.
Prepare regular reports on HSE performance for senior management, identifying trends, areas for improvement, and success stories.
Ensure accurate and timely reporting of HSE incidents and near misses.
Lead initiatives to drive continuous improvement in HSE processes and performance.
Implement best practices and innovative solutions to enhance the effectiveness of HSE management systems.
Facilitate regular reviews and updates of HSE policies, procedures and systems.
Build and maintain strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders, including regulatory bodies, clients, and industry groups.
Is this the right role for you?
Education in Occupational Health and Safety, Environmental Science, Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field.
Minimum 10 years of experience in construction safety management, ideally with a focus on Industrial, Commercial, and Institutional construction, including Residential High Rise.
Strong knowledge of BC HSE regulations, WCB requirements, standards, and best practices.
Proven track record of successful HSE strategy development, cultural change initiatives and implementation, including solid presentation, meeting and training facilitation skills.
Demonstrated experience in report writing to a senior level.
Proficient leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.
Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
Proficiency in HSE management systems and software (HCSS Safety knowledge an asset).
Additional safety designations and certifications such as CRSP, NCSO, CPR / First Aid, EMT and OSHA / MSHA
