Job description

Position Summary

The Cost, Financial Planning, and Analysis Manager is responsible for the oversight and compliance integrity of all areas of the business. Generally responsible for the development, implementation and compliance oversight of all administrative policies and procedures.

Key Responsibilities

Finance :

  • Generates month-end reports and analysis for standard and ad hoc analysis to understand and communicate commercial and plant performance.
  • Analyzes the month-end results to ensure statutory results are accurate.
  • Generates the annual plant budget as well as the forecasts.
  • Prepares quarter end and yearend financial reporting packages due to corporate.
  • Oversees the integrity of plants internal control systems and compliance with SOX
  • Acts as key point of contact for external and internal auditors regarding plant financials reports and controls.
  • Handles all Cost accounting functions including cost models for new business opportunities, maintaining and updating standard costs and coordinating and interpreting all cost accounting variances (work orders, purchase price etc.).
  • Provides input on transfer prices issues from a competitive and regulatory basis.
  • Maintains active involvement in Capital and Continuous Improvement projects including but not limited to approval and closure of financial performance.
  • Acts as key contact with risk management department for all insurance related activities.
  • Reviews the plant income statement and balance sheet to ensure integrity and accuracy of the entity's results in compliance with corporate policy, US GAAP and Canadian statutory requirements.
  • Participates in EHS activity-taking place in the plant.
  • Participates on the plant management team responsible for establishing and ensuring the success of the plant goals and objectives.
  • Assess and communicates to senior management the potential tax consequences of existing laws and pending legislation.
  • Lead all tax related analysis of business activities, structures and commercial transactions including the identification and evaluation of alternatives and recommendations of solutions to senior management.
  • Prepare and file GST, PST and HST tax returns and other local taxes as appropriate.
  • Interface with taxing authorities, including coordination of tax audits and preparation of tax requests.
  • Implement processes to adhere to the Company's transfer pricing policies and procedures.
  • Coordinate and provide information for federal, state and local income taxes.
  • Partner with the Corporate Tax Director to develop controls and procedures to ensure the accuracy of tax returns and GAAP accounting for income taxes, Canadian tax returns, and property tax returns, and manage ongoing compliance to such controls.
  • Directs compilation of data based on tax studies and analyses of past and current years to prepare budgets and to justify taxes reported.
  • Provides guidance to payroll and HR departments on compliance with employment and benefit tax regulations and reporting requirements.
  • Assist the CFO and Corporate Tax Director with tax planning issues as required.

Information Technology :

  • Support and enforce IT policies and procedures, Passwords, Security, use of company equipment and resources, logins, etc.
  • Facilitate testing of ERP system changes to evaluate impact on the entity and the local business processes.
  • Coordinate ERP site concerns and issues such as system outages, network slowness, system configuration issues or changes, etc.
  • Assist in change management of local business processes resulting from ERP system changes.

  • Physical Requirements : The person in this position normally works in a manufacturing environment with a significant amount of time spent in the manufacturing facility. Hearing, eye, and foot protection are mandatory in the manufacturing area. Periods of sitting / standing at a desk and working on a computer. Must be able to lift 15 lbs. at times.

  • Reports to : Global Cost Manager (Stow, OH) and Corporate Controller (Troy OH)
  • Travel : up to 10%
  • Selection Criteria :
  • Education :
  • Minimum Bachelors Degree in Accounting or related field required

  • Experience :
  • 7-10 Years of experience in manufacturing roles and leading a matrixed team

  • Advanced Microsoft Office experience required
  • ERP Experience required
  • Exceptional problem-solving and analytical skills
  • Good interpersonal skill is a must. Personal and professional integrity is required. Good teamwork and leadership skills are very important. Must be able to work with individuals from all levels. Must show initiative and be self-motivated. Must have the ability to effectively present information to top management. Excellent communication, written, and verbal skills are desired as well as transparency in job performance. Analytical and statistical ability is a must.
  • Organizational skills and the need to be flexible in this position are needed.
