Job Summary
Newcastle upon Tyne Hospitals have an exciting opportunity for a full-time Catering Supervisor to work within the RVI Catering Departments Team of the Year 2022.
The role is based at the Royal Victoria Infirmary Catering Department, working 37.5 hours a week, 5 days over 7 on rotational roster working 2 weekends out of 3. You will be part of a small supervisory team under the direction of a Senior Supervisor to ensure the smooth running of the department. Working hours are 6 : 00‑14 : 00 and 12 : 00‑20 : 00 on a 3‑week rotational roster.

Main Duties
- Supervise a catering team of up to 70 staff.
- Communicate between catering, wards and departments.
- Put menus through the Catering system and ensure menus are posted for wards.
- Maintain daily work sheets, rosters and manage overtime, holidays and sickness.
- Use in-house allocate system for pay and holidays.
- Work in line with Departments HACCP system.
- Ensure Department meets all health and hygiene regulations.
- Monitor the patient food belt to ensure quality, presentation and correct food is served.
- Interact with ward staff.
- Effectively use resources and staff allocation including additional hours.
- Conduct staff appraisals, departmental inductions, undertake risk assessment training, moving and handling and first aid training.
- Work with the Dietier Chef to ensure patients dietary needs are met and allergen information is correct.
Qualifications & Experience
NVQ Level 3 Supervisory Leadership Qualification or equivalent experience.Intermediate Food Hygiene Qualification Level 2 Allergen Qualification or equivalent.City & Guilds 706 / 2 or NVQ 3 (food preparation).Experience in large scale catering.Knowledge of HACCP principles.Experience working in a large scale production kitchen.Previous supervisory management experience.Basic IT skills (Word and Excel).Ability to work in a customer focused environment.Confidentiality.Skills & Abilities
