Role and Facility Information

Title : Family Physician – Option to be considered for a 0.2 FTE medical lead

Contract : up to a 1.0 FTE (typically 1680 hours a year)

Location : Ahousaht, Hesquiaht, Tla-o-qui-aht, Toquaht and Ucluelet First Nations (on-reserve services)

About The Centre

The West Coast PCI Health Society is dedicated to integrating traditional Indigenous cultural values and practices into health and wellness services. The Nuu‑chah‑nulth‑FNPCC (ʔuukʷinkpanač) will operate through a number of spoke sites to provide holistic care for Indigenous people, weaving together western medicine and traditional wellness practices. Services are designed to provide wraparound, team‑based primary care, mental health and traditional wellness services. The centre will operate Monday to Friday (excluding Statutory Holidays) during regular business hours and may change over time due to operational needs.

About The Role

The Nuu‑chah‑nulth PCI is a new primary care hub and spoke model operating across 6 sites to improve access to culturally safe care. As the Family Physician, you will be the most responsible provider for a patient panel and expected to collaborate in team‑based care, supporting both Western and Traditional Wellness approaches. A minimum panel size of 650 per 1.0 FTE by year 3 is expected. You will travel most working days to different sites to be available for appointments within the community.

Responsibilities

Practice with cultural humility, providing primary care in a culturally safe, team‑based environment that recognizes the physical, mental, emotional, and spiritual aspects of the client and family. Deliver whole‑person care in compliance with policies and procedures of BC health and wellness regulations and standards.

About You

  • You are passionate about supporting First Nations individuals and families on their health and wellness journeys.
  • You have an active practising licence in good standing with the College of Physicians of BC (CPSBC).
  • You have training in Cultural Safety & Humility or are willing to take this training.
  • Ideally, you have experience working with First Nations people and communities and providing culturally safe care.
  • You hold a current valid driving licence and are willing to travel throughout the Fraser Salish region (the 7 sites).

  • Compensation

    Clinical Service Contract. Estimated remuneration : $476,772.

    Benefits and Incentives

    May be eligible for additional remuneration under the Rural Subsidiary Agreement (RSA), including :

  • Retention Premium 26.25%
  • Relocation Funding available $9,000‑12,000
  • Recruitment Incentive variable
  • Anticipated hire date : Fall‑Winter 2025.
