Job Description :

POSITION PURPOSE SUMMARY :

Community and Family Services support work is focused on supporting promoting and enhancing well-being of individuals and families as well as assisting immediate needs of clients donors and visitors through emergency client assistance Food Bank community feeding programs community referrals seasonal programs (including Income Tax Backpacks Summer Camps and Christmas) and other programs that are developed to meet the needs of clients and the community. This position will provide general support to various services in the Community and Family Services setting of a Ministry Unit.

ACCOUNTABILITIES :

The incumbent may perform all some or similar range of duties.

As directed support pre-planned program activities for the community (food bank crafts sports games music homework stations Bible-based devotions community church meetings etc.).

Work in a team setting supporting various tasks and activities.

Provide general administrative support greeting visitors supporting reception forwarding visitors etc.

Provide general assistance during public relations events and regular campaigns.

Maintain strict confidentially of all matters pertaining to the program participants.

Adhere to policies and procedures relating to the programs.

Perform other work-related duties as assigned.

CRITICAL RELATIONSHIP MANAGEMENT :

Internal : MU leadership and staff volunteers.

External : Might have to communicate with community members.

MANAGERIAL / TECHNICAL RESPONSIBILITIES :

Reports directly to the Community Ministries Director

Direct reports : None

FINANCIAL AND MATERIAL MANAGEMENT :

Minor material responsibilities.

The incumbent will not be involved in receiving handling or disbursements of funds.

The incumbent has no input into the annual budget.

The above responsibilities must be discharged in accordance with The Salvation Armys Mission Statement in a professional manner upholding our code of conduct.

WORKING CONDITIONS :

The incumbents work environment is typically in an office environment.

May be required to move / lift up to 30 pounds.

EDUCATION EXPERIENCE AND QUALIFICATIONS :

Willingness to develop an understanding and support for the mission and purpose of The Salvation Army in Canada and its implications as related to position responsibilities.

Work in compliance with OH&S Act and Regulations and abide by The Salvation Armys health and safety policies and procedures.

Alternative combination of education and Experience may be considered.

Ability and willingness to undergo applicable screening and background checks successfully that are satisfactory to The Salvation Army in its sole discretion (i.e. The Salvation Army Abuse Registry) and provide an original copy of a Background Check screening.

Education Qualifications and Certifications :

Completion of some high school course work is required.

CPR First Aid and Non-Violent Crisis Training or willingness to complete once hired.

Experience and Knowledge :

The incumbent must have a year of related experience.

Skills and Capabilities :

Maintain and promote a positive image of The Salvation Army by providing a high caliber of services and dealing with others in a courteous and professional manner.

Strong sense of integrity and confidentiality with professional ethics and a balanced sense of fairness and flexibility.

Good team player.

Organized and attentive to details.

Compensation :

The target hiring range for this position is $17.85 to $19.69 with a maximum of $23.63.

Placement in the salary range will be based on factors such as market conditions internal equity and candidate experience skills and qualifications relevant to the role.
