Through the National Shipbuilding Strategy (NSS), the Government of Canada has embarked on one of the largest procurement projects since the Second World War.

The NSS is a nation-building effort to create a sustainable Canadian shipbuilding industry, secure long-term job opportunities and build the next generation of ships for the Canadian Coast Guard and Royal Canadian Navy.

Through its NSS related work, Seaspan Shipyards is leading the redevelopment of our domestic shipbuilding industry on the West Coast and delivering on the promise of ships built in Canada, by Canadians.

The Intern, Program Finance collaborates with teams across operating divisions to consolidate financial data for the reports and analyze results.

The ability to clearly communicate the results, very strong attention to detail, excellent interpersonal skills, flexibility and adaptability in a fast-paced environment with competing priorities are essential for this role.

Note : Due to business needs, this position is required to be fully on-site based at 2 Pemberton Avenue, North Vancouver.

What you'll do

  • Assist with reconciliations and clean-up of database GL accounts.
  • Assist in streamlining report workflows by automating existing reports as well as creation of new reports.
  • Assist in coordinating project forecast updates and prepare supporting files.
  • Assist the Finance team in other administration tasks.

What you'll bring

  • Enrollment in a 4th year Finance or Accounting degree program.
  • Above average organizational skills to capture and analyze / synthesize data.
  • Excellent digital literacy including Microsoft Excel / Word / PowerPoint, and SharePoint.
  • Strong communication, diplomacy, interpersonal and organization skills.
  • Ability to collaborate with teams and work independently with minimal direct supervision and manage their time optimally.
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills in the English language.

We require a full-time commitment Monday-Friday, 40 hours per week with an hourly rate of $26.00 / hour.

Start Date of Internship : January 6th, 2025

End Date of Internship : May 2nd, 2025
