Background
SaskEnergy’s Digital, Technology, and Security (DT&S) group is comprised of several functional groups focused on project delivery, architecture, records and information management, security, application, infrastructure management, and enterprise analytics.
The DT&S department consists of approximately 90 multi-vendor contractors.
The Enterprise Information Management (EIM) team provides data architecture, data quality, and information management services, focused on business, information, integration, security, and technology domains.
This group delivers IT technology and service planning, business capability development and road mapping, as well as delivering high quality and effective supporting services to the Enterprise Project Portfolio Management (EPPM) as well as directly to the business
An emerging focus for the EIM group is establishing and delivering an Enterprise Analytics program including governance, content management, metadata management, master data management practices and the visualization of information in an easy to consume manner.
This extends to service delivery for EIM products and tools as well as collaboration and content management services for the business.
Description of Requirements
In order to be considered the Data Architect resource MUST have a minimum of 5 years of recent (last five years) in modern data management principles such as, but not limited to practical data design, architecture, management, modelling, quality, and analytics experience.
The successful candidate will demonstrating a broad and solid understanding of these principles.
The successful Data Architect candidate will :
- Degree or Diploma in Computer Science / Engineering, Data Sciences or a related discipline;
- 5+ years’ experience in a data design, data architecture, data management and data modelling;
- Experience with Microsoft Analytics Tools, is preferred and near real time analytics;
- Proficiency with Microsoft SQL required;
- Be responsible for monitoring and addressing database issues and problems and ensuring they are in line with company policies and any external regulations that may apply;
- Provide insight into the changing database integration, storage and utilization requirements for the company and offer suggestions for solutions;
- Oversee the integration of data from legacy and on-premises systems to new solutions;
- Experience in developing and influencing Content Management and Data Management programs and governance;
- Expert knowledge of data management as laid out by Data Management Association (DAMA) and the Data Management Body of Knowledge (DMBoK);
Certification in TOGAF; Certified Data Management Profession Certificate, Data Management Capability Assessment Model, or equivalent
- Extensive experience developing information reference architectures and models;
- Experience in the development of Power BI dashboards;
- Experience in technologies that drive data-driven decisions like machine learning, artificial intelligence and augmented analytics;
- Experience influencing and establishing strategic direction within an organization;
- Experience working closely with business leaders, including presenting to senior management and the Executive;
- Strong leadership and facilitation skills in communicating technical information effectively in an easy to understand language;
- Educate staff members through training and individual support;
- Knowledge and exposure to data privacy and confidentiality regulations such as Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act (PIPEDA);
Typical activities in the Data Architect role include :
- Work closely with the Enterprise Analytics team to deliver strategies and roadmaps;
- Developing reference architectures and models;
- Consulting DT&S and Business leaders on data and information management practices and governance;
- Recommending strategic direction for the improvement of the analytics environment;
- Actively contributing to architecture boards and continued improvement of our practice;
- Supporting business resources, Solution Architects, Business Process Analysts and Data Analysts on project initiatives;
- Championing efforts to improve business performance through enterprise information capabilities, such as master data management (MDM), metadata management, analytics, content management, data integration, and related data management or data infrastructure;
- Provide insight into the changing database integration, storage and utilization requirements for the company and offer suggestions for solutions;
Monitor and understand Information Management trends and emerging technologies.
The key skills and knowledge areas required for the Senior Resource are outlined in attached Appendix C Supplementary Specifications.
North American job experience is considered an asset for this proposal. Proponents are encouraged to provide specific and qualitative verbiage of other areas where their expertise can add value to our teams, and make our projects as successful as possible.
We are looking for a well-rounded developer to fill this role.
The preference for start date is as soon as possible. The initial term for this role(s) will conclude March 31, 2022; after which SaskEnergy will evaluate its’ ongoing requirements and potentially extend the term for this resource in accordance with the terms and conditions of the bidder’s Technology Master Service Agreement (TMSA).
The resource will be required to work and be located on site at SaskEnergy Head Office in Regina , Monday to Friday 8 am to 5 pm and the proposed hourly rate shall be inclusive of all travel and living costs (PST and GST are extra).
