The Grader Operator performs a variety of tasks while working outside in variable conditions. Must be able to operate a grader and have experience working and repairing gravel roads, performing both rough and fine grade finishing. The position requires the successful candidate to be detail orientated and physically fit with the ability to complete manual labour tasks. A minimum Class 5 license is required.

Job Overview and Responsibilities

• Perform daily maintenance and safety checks of equipment, including routine cleaning and greasing to ensure optimum performance of machinery
• Comply with safe working procedures and practices
• Safely and skillfully operate a grader on both public and private construction sites
• Precisely operate grader blade to shape base surface within one inch
• Understand grades and slopes in relation to the job
• Read and interpret plans, follow survey markers
• Operate controls to regulate height and angle of grader blade
• Understand and comply with all aspects of the rules and regulations regarding Ground Disturbance
• Excavating, backfilling and clean up of sites
• Occasional labour work
• Requires a flexible work schedule including overtime, weekend and out of town work as required during the construction season (May - November)
• Other duties as required
