About This Opportunity
Weymouth Medical Centre is seeking a full-time family physician to work in a fully equipped clinic, including a computer system. There is an opportunity, approximately 20 minutes east, to be part of a collaborative family practice team (physicians, nurse practitioners, family practice nurse, licensed practical nurse and diabetes centre team) at the Digby & Area Health Services Centre which is located next door to the Digby General Hospital. If interested, opportunities in supporting inpatient coverage and emergency department coverage would be available at Digby General Hospital.
Digby General Hospital, historically founded in , provides medical care to residents of the surrounding areas including primary, inpatient, restorative, and ambulatory care as well as day surgery. Located in Digby, the 20-bed medical and alternate level of care (ALC) unit works closely with the Urgent Treatment Centre (UTC) in Annapolis Royal and Yarmouth, Nova Scotia. DGH also has a 13-bed restorative care unit that supports patients through rehabilitation.

Responsibilities
ensure the delivery of comprehensive primary health care services to patients of all ages and stages of health or illnessbe accountable for appropriate workload and practicecontinuum of patient care with health care providers within your practice and / or communityprovide care and coordination of community-based care, secondary and tertiary level heath carebuild to capacity within the first two years (new primary care providers)operate within the Bylaws and Rules and Regulations of Nova Scotia Health Authoritywork toward same day or next day access for the practice populationwork in collaboration with other team members in the practice to best suit the community’s health needswork with other providers to provide after-hours access when required and emergency opportunities if interestedparticipate in quality improvement and evaluation activitiesutilize an electronic medical record (EMR) and record all relevant patient details in a provincially approved EMR which is accessible to all collaborating team membersPrescribe and administer medications and treatments, inoculations and vaccinationsReport births, deaths, contagious and other diseases as per Nova Scotia Public Health requirementsExpected Hours
