Are you passionate about making sure change initiatives focus on the people side of change, are clearly communicated, and ultimately adopted? If so, this role is for you. Reporting to the Director Change Management & Communications, the Senior Change Management & Communications Consultant will plan, develop and execute change management plans that maximize adoption and usage while minimizing resistance and disruption. The goal is to introduce the right amount of change at the right time to increase benefit realization, value creation, and achieve desired outcomes. It’s a fast-paced, rewarding role perfect for someone who is just as comfortable working with senior leaders as they are with colleagues from across the organization.

What will you do?

Plan, develop and execute change management plans for initiatives that impact Sun Life Financial Distributors (SLFD) advisors, field management, and head office teams :

Apply a structured, Prosci-based methodology, process and tools to create strategies that support adoption of the changes required by projects and initiatives

Support SLFD initiatives with actionable deliverables for the change management levers : sponsorship, communications, training, resistance management, and ongoing monitoring of implemented changes

Identify the stakeholders for changes, assess the impact of each change on them, and readiness to adopt new ways of thinking, behaving and working

Develop clear and engaging communications that address the need for plain language information, respect Sun Life writing and brand guidelines, and are aligned to the compelling SLFD vision and story

Support the training requirements of SLFD change initiatives by providing input and content

Address field and advisor resistance highlighted through our channels that monitor field sentiment

Define and measure success metrics to ensure the effectiveness of change activities

Support project teams by integrating change management activities into their project plans

Develop strong relationships with key business partners and recommend the right change management approach and tactics that help them achieve business objectives

What do you need to succeed?

A solid understanding of how people going through change and the ability to look at change through the eyes of many impacted stakeholders

Knowledge of change management principles, methodologies and tools

The ability to clearly articulate the change story : What will be new? Different? Taken away?

Experience developing, supporting and executing change management plans and communication strategies

Exceptional communications skills, both written and verbal

Excellent active listening skills with the ability to influence others and bring them on the change journey

An ability to clearly articulate messages to a variety of audiences

Comfortable with juggling multiple and sometimes changing priorities, projects, and tasks

Organized with a natural inclination for planning strategy and tactics

Strong problem-solving ability with a desire to get to the root cause

A team player who is comfortable working collaboratively with individuals at all levels of the organization

Familiarity with large-scale organizational change efforts and project management approaches

3-5 years in a change lead role ideally within insurance, wealth management or banking

Change management certification or designation such as Prosci™

Post-secondary education in related field (business, communications) or equivalent work experience
