The Opportunity

The City of St. John’s is accepting applications for Fitness Instructors to teach dryland, water fitness and yoga classes.

Accountabilities

Fitness instructors lead, instruct, and motivate patrons in scheduled group exercise classes.

Qualifications

  • Fitness Leadership Certification such as YMCA, CALA, WaterArt, CanFit Pro, City of St. John’s Aquatic Fitness Instructors Workshop, Yoga Instructor.

Education : High School Diploma

  • Current Royal Newfoundland Constabulary (RNC) Certificate of Conduct and Vulnerable Sector Check
  • Current CPR Level C
  • Specific Skills / Certifications Assets :

  • High Five Principles of Healthy Aging
  • Experience :

  • Experience teaching fitness programs.
  • Working Conditions

  • Fitness and aquatic conditions may be very hot and humid at times.
  • Frequently dealing with members of the public.
  • The duties of this position require flexible hours of work including evenings and weekends as required

  • Hours of Work

    As required, mornings, lunchtime, afternoons and evenings, weekdays and weekends. Hours assigned based on program schedule.
