Wabtec Foundry is currently seeking an Operations Manager to join our team in Wallaceburg, Ontario. This position reports directly to the General Manager.

The Operations Manager is responsible to oversee all plant operations including production planning, scheduling priorities, site safety program, maintenance, quality and shipping activities.

This role encompasses responsibilities including, production goals, customer on-time-delivery, quality objectives, safety, equipment sustainability, building services and management of direct and indirect employees.

Other responsibilities include, but not limited to :

  • Monitor customer order backlog to develop production forecast requirements. Make recommendations for manpower adjustments.
  • Ensure inventory and ordering of raw materials are maintained for all Production requirements.
  • Work closely with Department Supervisors to ensure production goals and monthly sales targets are met.
  • Work with Production Scheduler to help achieve an efficient schedule.
  • Cover for Supervisors during vacation times.
  • Address personnel issues on the shop floor, as they arise, including employee attendance issues and various other disciplinary actions.
  • Lead improvement initiatives in productivity, equipment, cost and quality projects to meet plant budgetary objectives.
  • Develop and regularly review reports with management.
  • Ensure Quality improvement plans are in place.
  • Participate in quality improvement initiatives. Input on corrective actions for issues.
  • Monitor production activity to ensure processes are being followed.
  • Responsible for daily operations in production areas.
  • Conduct or coordinate employee training requirements.
  • Maintain a positive environment for employee health and safety performance
  • Perform safety observations and investigations
  • Develop and maintain a proactive Preventative Maintenance Program
  • Manage maintenance activities for breakdown recovery and planned projects
  • Oversee all shipping and receiving activities to ensure customer OTD and proper documentation / procedures are followed.

Qualifications & Skills :

  • Strong leadership skills with 8-10 years’ experience in a manufacturing / production environment.
  • Management experience in a foundry environment would be preferred.
  • Strong organization skills and proven ability in problem solving and process improvements.
  • HS Diploma or GED required. Post-Secondary education in a related field would be preferred.
  • Ability to effectively communicate with management, Customers and Production Team
  • Strong computer application skills, including Microsoft Office and the ability to learn new software applications
  • Excellent oral and written communications skills
  • Ability to work with various cross-functional teams and related assignments

  • Surveiller le carnet de commandes des clients pour développer les exigences de prévision de production. Faire des recommandations pour les ajustements des effectifs.
  • Veiller à ce que l'inventaire et les commandes de matières premières soient maintenus pour toutes les exigences de production.

Travailler en étroite collaboration avec les superviseurs de département pour garantir que les objectifs de production et les objectifs de ventes mensuels sont atteints.

  • Travailler avec Production Scheduler pour vous aider à atteindre un calendrier efficace.
  • Couverture des superviseurs pendant les périodes de vacances.
  • Régler les problèmes de personnel dans l'atelier, à mesure qu'ils surviennent, y compris les problèmes d'assiduité des employés et diverses autres mesures disciplinaires.
  • Diriger les initiatives d'amélioration des projets de productivité, d'équipement, de coûts et de qualité pour atteindre les objectifs budgétaires de l'usine.
  • Élaborer et examiner régulièrement des rapports avec la direction.
  • S'assurer que des plans d'amélioration de la qualité sont en place.
  • Participer aux initiatives d'amélioration de la qualité. Contribution aux actions correctives pour les problèmes.
  • Surveiller l'activité de production pour garantir que les processus sont suivis.
  • Responsable des opérations quotidiennes dans les zones de production.
  • Diriger ou coordonner les exigences de formation des employés.
  • Maintenir un environnement positif pour la performance en matière de santé et de sécurité des employés
  • Effectuer des observations et des enquêtes de sécurité
  • Développer et maintenir un programme de maintenance préventive proactif
  • Gérer les activités de maintenance pour la reprise après panne et les projets planifiés
  • Superviser toutes les activités d’expédition et de réception pour garantir que l’OTD du client et la documentation / procédures appropriées sont suivies.

Qualifications et compétences :

  • Solides compétences en leadership avec 8 à 10 ans d’expérience dans un environnement de fabrication / production.
  • Une expérience en gestion dans un environnement de fonderie serait préférée.
  • Solides compétences organisationnelles et capacité avérée à résoudre des problèmes et à améliorer les processus.
  • Diplôme HS ou GED requis. Des études postsecondaires dans un domaine connexe seraient préférées.
  • Capacité à communiquer efficacement avec la direction, les clients et l'équipe de production
  • Solides compétences en applications informatiques, y compris Microsoft Office et capacité à apprendre de nouvelles applications logicielles
  • Excellentes compétences en communication orale et écrite
