Wood is currently seeking an Intermediate to Senior Instrumentation & Controls Engineer to join our Minerals and Metals team in Vancouver, BC.
- Provide I&C input to process P&ID.
- Prepare and review control deliverables such as Control Narrative, Cause and Effect diagram, Control system architecture, loop drawings.
- Prepare and review instrument lists such as equipment list, IO list, I / O assignment, Instrument Index, Serial Interface list, cable list, etc..
- Prepare and Review Communication systems deliverables such as Network Diagrams and Specifications.
- Squad check other discipline documents, such as SLDs, ISOs, etc.
- Provide input to mechanical packages.
- Provide technical support in FAT.
- Prepare and review Instrumentation Datasheets for ON / OFF valve, control valve, flowmeter, densitometers, transmitters, pressure safety valve, Motor operated valves, Hydraulic power units, etc.
- Perform Instrument sizing calculations.
- Prepare and review RFQ, approving vendor document, conducting technical bid evaluation (TBE) for field instrumentation.
- Review Instrument Location plan
- Develop and maintain positive, sustainable client relationships.
- Coordinate and work with project team members in Canada and international offices
- Prepares proposals, contract design drawings and calculations, contract information (CI) sheets, specifications and other engineering documentation using standards and / or new methods as required.
- Prepares technical specifications for purchased equipment.
- Coordinate and interface with mechanical equipment package.
- Plan, manage and coordinate the I&C engineering activities. Be the discipline lead engineer on projects and take on discipline management duties, .
discipline activities scheduling, progressing, and planning.
- Assure that all work on assigned projects is timely, accurate and high quality.
- Work independently and guide less experienced team members.
- Electrical Engineering (BSc) degree with automation and control systems specialization.
- Must be a Professional Engineer ( in the province of British Columbia or can register as one within approximately 3 months of hire.
- Minimum of 12 years of experience; primarily responsible for supporting I&C engineering consulting projects for mining, metallurgical or similar process industries.
- Knowledge of CSA, ISA and IEEE standards including the Canadian Electrical Code, and how to apply them to designs.
- Everyday use of Microsoft Word and Excel.
- Experience with mining and mineral processing facilities design.
- Site experience and pre-commissioning and startup experience.
- Database experience is considered an asset (AVEVA Instrumentation).
- Team player, but also able to work independently and take responsibility.
- Authorization to lawfully work in Canada without sponsorship from Wood is required.
- If working as a lead discipline engineer, must be able to work from the office 2-3 days a week.
