Location : Benton Road, North York, M6M 3G2

Major intersection : Keele & Lawrence

Hours : Full-time. hours per week.

Schedule : Monday to Friday – 7 : am – 3 : pm

JOB SUMMARY :

As a Sewing Operator, you will be performing assembly construction tasks to help build firefighter turnout suits to meet our customer specifications and expectations. You can help save lives.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS :

  • Operate a sewing machine. Single, double, or multi-needle serger.
  • Sew gear in accordance with job specifications (job cards).
  • Prepare machine by changing needles and thread, and oiling and changing bobbin. Mount sewing machine attachments like needles, threads, pattern plates or cutting blades, and adjust machine guides according to the job specifications.
  • Meet delivery deadlines by working with team to ensure products are made correctly and with good quality and meet production goals set by supervisor.
  • Understand quality requirements and how this position affects quality : on time delivery, material tracking, and meeting customer requirements.
  • Maintain cleanliness and good housekeeping in sewing area.
  • Other duties as needed.

    • ADDITIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES :

  • Works well with other production associates.
  • Must be able to follow instructions consistently with minimum supervision.
  • Must be able to read job cards and follow sewing standards.
  • Maintain a clean and safe work environment.
  • Must follow company rules and regulations.
  • Ability to multi-task.

    • EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE QUALIFICATIONS :

  • High School diploma or GED
  • Previous experience working with industrial sewing equipment
  • Positive attitude and demonstrated ability to work well with a team
  • Good attendance record
  • Self-motivated and organized

    • PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS :

  • Standing, sitting, walking, bending as needed.
  • Using proper lifting technique may be required to lift objects up to lbs.

    • Must be legally able to work in Canada and, where applicable, must have a valid work permit.
