Position Summary

The Pharmacy Assistant assists the Pharmacist with prescription filling and administrative duties to increase the pharmacist’s opportunity for patient care. The role participates in all aspects of pharmacy operations and is a key member in delivering superior customer service.

What You’ll Do

• Receive prescriptions from patients, ensuring completeness (Name, Address, DOB, Allergies, 3rd Party Information, Special Requests, Prescriber, Generic / Brand) and prioritizing according to 21st Century Guidelines.
• Perform computer functions as directed by the pharmacist (Data Entry, Price Check, Patient Information Update, interpretation of prescriptions, dosage calculations, refills, report generation, patient profile checks).
• Fill prescriptions under pharmacist supervision : select products, perform the accuracy program (7‑point, visual, DIN checks), count / measure, prepare, label, and organize for pharmacist checking, obtain approvals for verbal refills, use STOP forms, and facilitate all aspects of Cognitive Services.
• Maintain inventory control : assist pharmacist in stock levels, pull expired medications monthly, clean the Will Call bin, write up returns, order drugs and supplies, use preferred wholesalers, operate the Telxon gun, price and put away orders, zone shelves, x‑bottle labeling, and maintain key‑brand / generic knowledge.
• Perform general housekeeping : stock supplies (vials, labels, bags), keep the dispensary clean and organized, maintain a safe environment (dishes, garbage), and maintain equipment (computer, fax).
• Clerical organization : file prescriptions, invoices, reports, correspondence, and memos; complete administrative support tasks (journals, accounts receivable, aged trial balance).
• Assist with OTC operations, ordering, stocking, and cashier duties as directed by the OTC manager or pharmacist.

Pay Range

$17.60 – $23.10 per hour (USD). Rate determined by relevant experience.
