Job Summary

Reporting directly to the Senior Director of Business Development, the incumbent, using their negotiation skills and knowledge of the pharmacy retail market, will be called upon to implement business strategies aimed at preserving and increasing McKesson’s Retail Banner market share and store count.

Specific Responsibilities

  • Lead startup projects by identifying potential sites, by building a business case in close collaboration with finance, legal, operations and store design & planning, by identifying the best pharmacist (through a rigorous process that includes pre-qualification, interviews, and report on specific criteria to identify potential candidates for new sites or existing pharmacies) for the locations and by supporting the operation teams for the store opening.
  • Assess new potential opportunities (greensites) proposed by our current members to assist them for the business case for this potential location.

The Business Development Executive will have to present his business case to executives for approval.

  • Responsible for the full transaction process (buying and selling pharmacies) in close collaboration with the internal groups (finance, legal, and operations) and the external partners (banks, lawyers, accountants, etc.).
  • Approach new potential prospects and leverage networks by selling the full value proposition of the McKesson banners and building a business case and presenting to the executive team for approval.
  • Participate in industry events to identify potential new clients, promote the retail banners, and monitor market trends.
  • Responsible for performing a regular competitive market analysis to adapt our offers and remain competitive.
  • Maintain and develop strong business relationships with various executive stakeholders including banking agents, accounting firms, real estate brokers and lawyers.
  • Promote the importance of the brand images and standards to maintain a strong brand image in the market place and member engagement.

Minimum Qualifications

  • College degree in administration, finance or management and / or combination of relevant education and experience
  • 5+ years of sales or business development experience in the pharmaceutical or related field
  • Valid Canadian Driver’s License

Key Competencies

  • Strong background in negotiation, territory management and networking
  • Understanding of the pharmaceutical industry is an asset
  • Good understanding of the retail pharmacy business model & how it relates to profitability for our members considered an asset
