Web Specialist - Hybrid
The Opportunity
Join our Integrated Communications team with the Alberta Energy Regulator (AER) as our next Web Specialist. You’ll be responsible for managing the AER’s external digital channels, including our website, social media platforms, and connected applications. You’ll work closely with our Communications and Information Technology experts on day-to-day work and enhancement projects to keep our digital communications channels modern, functional, reliable, user-friendly, visually appealing, consistent and up to date.
This role is an ideal mix of strategic planning, complex problem solving and tactical execution on a collaborative team that values work-life balance and a fun, supportive culture.
What your day-to-day will look like :
Develop, maintain and enhance the AER’s website and digital platforms, providing expert guidance on improving functionality, accessibility, and responsiveness.
Manage day-to-day website operations, including content updates, publishing and analytics reports, troubleshooting technical issues.
Develop and implement web content strategies that align with organizational priorities and the AER’s brand, optimizing for search and generative AI.
Plan, create, and publish engaging social media content across platforms, and monitor comments, inquiries, and performance.
Collaborate with internal teams to integrate web and social media initiatives into broader communication plans.
Stay current with emerging trends in web development, social media, and digital communications to continuously improve the AER’s online presence.
What we’re looking for in you :
Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Digital Communications, Information and Communications Technologies, or equivalent with a combined 7+ years of related work experience.
Expertise in website content management systems and programming languages, as well as Adobe Creative Cloud, and social media platforms.
Ability to effectively manage multiple initiatives concurrently and respond and adapt to changing priorities and timelines.
Proficient in web analytics tools and reporting, online marketing via social media, search engine optimization and generative engine optimization.
Demonstrated strength in written and verbal communication, teamwork, organization, project management, and problem-solving skills.
Member of the International Association of Business Communicators (IABC) or the Canadian Public Relations Society (CPRS) is considered an asset.
