Car Repairman Apprentice - Sault Ste. Marie, ON

Job Location: Sault Ste-Marie-ON-P6C3N5 Office Location: Onsite Employment Type: Hourly Job Type: Full Time

In this position, the Team Member inspects, repairs and maintains railcars consistent with company policies. The member will be required to perform mechanical related maintenance as needed.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

• Use cutting torch in all positions without damaging adjoining parts, and complete 5F welding qualification test for pipe.
• Ensure all federal requirements and company guidelines are met, and that all safety rules are followed when performing duties.
• Read and understand blueprints.
• Perform foreign car repairs as well as fleet car repairs.
• Comply with FRA & AAR rules when making car repairs.
• Keep accurate records of repairs made.
• Operate mobile crane and wheel truck.
• Work closely with other departments at derailment sites.
• Perform other duties that may be assigned.

Education and Experience

• High school education or GED, or 3 to 6 months of job‑related experience; or equivalent education and experience.
