HOURS OF WORK : Monday to Friday 8 : 30am – 4 : 30pm

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITY

The Reconciliation Accountant is responsible for the timely reconciliation of the University bank accounts to the General Ledger and for supporting the Senior Accountant in this regard. The Reconciliation Accountant also assists the Controller and the Senior Accountant in various accounting functions, analysis of general ledger accounts and preparation of working papers for the year-end audit.

SUMMARY OF DUTIES

• Reconcile University bank accounts on a timely basis.
• Prepare year-end working papers pertaining to back reconciliation and necessary schedules.
• Supporting the Senior Accountant and Controller in their daily accounting responsibilities.
• Review outstanding cheques, investigate status of stale-dated cheques, and make appropriate semi-annual adjustments.
• Access and download necessary information from the banks’ online systems, the University’s general ledger and other subsidiary systems and completing the reconciliation in a complex data process.
• Process and review journal entries prepared by departmental users as well as review and follow up issues with remote interfaces from other systems on campus.
• Perform specified audit procedures, on a sample basis, of cheques and other payments to ensure accuracy.
• Assist with various accounting functions as required.
• Other duties or participation in special accounting projects as assigned.
