The Legal Assistant provides administrative and clerical support within a professional legal environment. The Legal Assistant is responsible for coordinating a variety of administrative procedures to ensure a high standard of quality and client service.
Key Responsibilities
- Preparation of correspondence and legal documentation including extensive editing and quality assurance
- Preparation of family law forms, briefs and other materials to be filed with the Court
- Schedule and manage client consultations, court dates, and appointments
- Coordinate external and internal communication
- Daily maintenance of client files and address client inquiries as required
- Daily preparation of dockets and client billings
- Maintenance of electronic and physical filing systems
- Assist with other projects and support other departments as required
Qualifications
Office Administration – Legal or Law Clerk diploma from recognized post-secondary institute or suitable combination of education and experienceMinimum two years of law office experience in family lawIn-depth knowledge of court forms and court filing systemsProficiency in composing, organizing, and presenting client financial disclosures, preliminary legal documents, and affidavitsStrong working knowledge of MS Office suite (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint) and DivorceMateExcellent verbal and written communication skillsStrong interpersonal skills and professional presentationStrong client service ethicSkills Required
