We are currently looking for a Travel Mangement Specialist based out of St. Thomas, ON
Our mission has started. Volkswagen Group’s largest cell factory in St. Thomas will carry out all battery activities from processing raw materials to developing a unified Volkswagen battery to managing the European and North American gigafactories.

For the initial ramp-up phase of our North American operations we are looking for a passionate Travel Management Specialist who wants to CELLebrate in fast-paced and fast-changing environments.
As part of the ramp-up team, you will work closely with the HR Team in St. Thomas, our PowerCo SE team members at Headquarters in Germany as well as colleagues from the Volkswagen Group Canada in Ajax, ON.
Reporting temporarily to the Chief Human Resources Officer for VGCA, you will be responsible for determining travel policies and regularly adapting them to legal and corporate requirements and provide professional support in negotiations with service providers and travel agencies.
This is a temporary flex hybrid model requiring 2 days in the St. Thomas office.
Primary Responsibilities :
- Provide professional support in negotiations with service providers and travel agencies
- Establish and maintain relationships with preferred partners for travel services, ensuring high-quality service delivery
- Responsible for determining travel policies and regularly adapting them to local, legal and corporate requirements.
- Provide professional support in optimizing the procurement process for all travel services, including consolidating demand
- Oversee and control travel expenses at a higher level in alignment with travel policy guidelines.
- Conduct quality controls and generate reports on processes and workflows, highlighting necessary improvements.
- Foster an employee-oriented approach to travel management, addressing inquiries and providing professional assistance to enhance overall employee experience.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in business administration, vocational training as a travel agent or a comparable qualification
- Working experience in SAP Concur
- Minimum 5+ years of experience in travel management
- Project management experience considered an asset.
- Familiarity with the purpose and logistics of corporate travel
- Experience with local and global travel practices
