Job description

Building the commercial brokerage of the future. Summit is a boutique commercial insurance firm headquartered in Kelowna and serving businesses across Canada. We are a venture-backed, tech-enabled commercial insurance brokerage redefining what it means to be a modern insurance partner. With strong values— Sustainability, Ownership, Transparency, and Impact —we move fast, support one another, and raise the bar for industry standards.

Summit is a team of empowered and high‑performing individuals who live our core values every day. Being a part of Summit offers a chance for the right applicant to make a name for themselves, and help build Summit as a leader in the Canadian Commercial Insurance market.

About the role

Join Summit as a Tenant Insurance Advisor and become a core driver of our growth. This isn’t just a desk job, it’s your chance to step into a supportive, tech‑enabled environment and gain critical experience in both sales and client advisory, the launchpad of your career.

The Tenant Insurance Advisor serves as the go‑to specialist for hundreds of renters across Canada each week, guiding them through securing and managing their essential tenant insurance policies.

You will own the client experience from start to finish, working directly within insurer portals to issue new policies and update existing coverage, quickly mastering the tools of the trade. You’ll handle urgent, time‑sensitive inquiries via chat, email, and phone, ensuring fast, compliant, and accurate policy delivery.

Most importantly, you will be the Voice of the Customer. The Tenant Insurance Advisor will identify pain points, suggest workflow improvements, and collaborate with internal teams to boost automation, efficiency, and overall customer satisfaction. Your insights will directly shape our future operations.

Customer Support

  • Respond promptly to all tenant insurance calls and emails, ensuring professional service and clear post‑interaction documentation.
  • Own the daily workflow, triaging and prioritizing incoming requests across all channels (phone, email, chat) to keep queues organized and under control.
  • Empower customers to use our online self‑service tools, and when necessary, securely process sensitive payment updates following strict privacy rules.

Policy Administration & Lifecycle Support

  • Use our policy and billing software to quickly confirm coverage, manage policy documents, and execute routine changes like address, name, and coverage updates.
  • Support clients through the entire policy lifecycle (new setups, renewals, move‑related changes, and cancellations).
  • Minimize cancellations by proactively contacting tenants to resolve payment issues and help them maintain continuous coverage.
  • Guide clients through the claims process, directing them to the correct channel, gathering initial details about the loss, and submitting structured notices to the insurer
  • Expert Advisory & Risk Education

  • Translate complex insurance terms into simple language, ensuring tenants fully understand their coverage, including liability, contents, and add‑ons
  • Drive internal efficiency by identifying common pain points and collaborating on updates to our documentation and templates, helping to improve the support experience for all stakeholders.
  • Serve as a peer mentor for new team members by sharing expertise and best practices
  • Partner Support

  • Liaise with property management partners to answer routine questions and ensure they understand how group and individual tenant policies satisfy lease obligations.
  • Ensure compliance and accuracy by strictly following all internal processes, documentation standards, and best practices for record‑keeping and identity verification.
  • Skills & Qualifications

  • 1+ years of experience in sales, customer support, or client‑facing roles, ideally within a high‑volume setting.
  • CAIB 1 license minimum, (RIBO must be obtained within 60 days of hire)
  • Ability to obtain and maintain provincial insurance licensing in all provinces where Summit operates.
  • 1+ year of experience in Personal Lines insurance sales, with responsibilities including lead generation and risk assessment to quoting or policy binding is an asset
  • Focused on tackling new challenges, solving problems, and moving the business forward, without waiting to be asked.
  • A natural ability to quickly build trust, provide exceptional service, and guide clients through a seamless, consultative insurance experience.
  • Exceptional attention to detail to ensure accuracy in all documentation and client data.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills and a collaborative approach for effective partnership with clients, carriers, and internal teams.
  • A genuine commitment to continuous learning and building deep insurance expertise to better serve complex client needs.
  • Demonstrated ability to quickly learn and adopt new technologies and internal platforms is essential.
  • Opportunity for Growth : Work with a forward‑thinking commercial brokerage and be part of an innovative, growing team.
  • Modern Workspace : Work from our brand‑new, state‑of‑the‑art offices in downtown Kelowna and Winnipeg. Enjoy a flexible hybrid model designed to support collaboration, focus, and balance.
  • Technology‑Driven Culture : Work with cutting‑edge tools and custom built technology to get time back in your day. Laptops & equipment provided to all staff.
  • Comprehensive Benefits : Access to flexible health, mental health, dental plans tailored to your lifestyle, and competitive vacation and personal day allotments.
  • Supportive Team : Participate in daily team huddles and collaborative events as part of a values‑driven culture.
  • Our Values

At Summit, our values guide everything we do :

  • Transparency : We build trust through open and honest communication.
  • Sustainability : We create lasting solutions for our team, partnerships, and communities.
  • Ownership : We take accountability for our actions, celebrate victories, and learn from mistakes.
  • Impact : We think big and aim to make a difference in everything we do, both in business and for social good.
  • If you’re ready to take the next step in your career and help build a new‑age commercial insurance brokerage, we want to hear from you.

    OTE : $50,000 - $60,000

Summit is an inclusive employer that celebrates diversity. We encourage applications from all qualified candidates and are committed to providing accommodations during the hiring process. While we thank all applicants for their interest, only those selected for an interview will be contacted.
