Job Summary :

The Manufacturing Project Engineer – Sheet Metal Fabrication will play a key role in the development and launch of new programs, as well as in the maintenance and improvement of existing programs. This position involves working closely with production teams to ensure efficient manufacturing processes, addressing non-conformance (NC) issues, and acting as a bridge between the design office and the shop floor. The ideal candidate will have experience in the aeronautics sector, a strong understanding of SAP, and proficiency in manufacturing engineering tools and software.

Key Responsibilities :

Program Development and Manufacturing Process Support :

  • Support the development and launch of new programs while maintaining and optimizing existing production lines.
  • Oversee the manufacturing of sheet metal components and metallic parts for aircraft platforms.
  • Manage and improve production processes including preprep layout, material cutting, layup autoclave cure, preassembly, painting, and final assembly.
  • Work closely with supervisors, quality, and manufacturing engineering teams to ensure efficient production and adherence to specifications.

Non-Conformance (NC) Management & Issue Resolution :

  • Address NC issues by evaluating and implementing repair solutions, submitting cases to international engineering teams, receiving feedback, and executing corrective actions.
  • Serve as a resident engineer to resolve fit issues by analyzing data and drawings using methodologies like the 5 Whys.
  • Collaborate with quality teams to maintain compliance with aerospace standards and regulations.
  • Customer & Cross-Functional Collaboration :

  • Respond to customer inquiries regarding part status, production timelines, and quality issues.
  • Act as a liaison between the design office and the shop floor, ensuring seamless communication and implementation of engineering changes.
  • Provide technical support and guidance to shop floor personnel on metal forming methods (NC and manual brake), joining methods (riveting, welding, etc.), and assembly processes.
  • Manufacturing Documentation & System Updates :

  • Update and maintain the Bill of Materials (BOM) in SAP to reflect production changes and requirements.
  • Create and revise work instructions using Google Slides or PowerPoint to provide clear guidance for production teams.
  • Utilize AutoCAD, Autodesk Inventor, and Catia V5 (R21+) for design validation and production planning.
  • Required Qualifications & Skills :

    Must-Haves :

  • 3-5 years of experience in manufacturing engineering within the aeronautics sector.
  • Strong understanding of SAP for BOM management and production tracking.
  • Experience with sheet metal fabrication, metal forming, and joining methods.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills, with a structured approach to root cause analysis.
  • Strong leadership and ability to work effectively in a cross-functional team environment.
  • Nice-to-Haves :

  • Experience in Lean Manufacturing and 5S principles.
  • Knowledge of aerospace quality standards and regulatory compliance.
  • Previous experience supporting international engineering teams and suppliers.
  • Software & Tools :

  • SAP (for BOM management and production tracking).
  • Google Slides or PowerPoint (for work instruction creation).
  • AutoCAD, Autodesk Inventor, Catia V5 (R21+) (for design and manufacturing planning).
  • Soft Skills :

  • Strong leadership and ability to take initiative.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills to interact with cross-functional teams and international partners.
  • Analytical mindset with a structured approach to troubleshooting and problem resolution.
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, collaborative environment.
