Duties

DUTIES

  • The successful candidate will work in the Mobile Examination Centre of a unique national study and continuously travel to various collection sites across Canada.
  • The incumbent will be trained to perform tests following established methodologies, procedures and guidelines developed for data collection for the CHMS.
  • Other tasks include filing, retrieving and disposing of clinical samples, according to standard procedures.
  • The candidate will follow health and safety guidelines, quality control and data security measures, policies and procedures while on the work site.
  • The candidate will supervise the workspace daily for testing, including setting up and calibrating equipment and systems and performing routine maintenance of equipment.
  • The candidate will perform quality control procedures, monitor trends, and maintain quality assurance and control (QA / QC) records.
  • The candidate will perform administrative activities such as maintaining supply inventories, assisting in clinic set-up and take down and other duties as required.

  • Intent of the process

    A pool of qualified or partially qualified candidates will be established to staff various tenures (term, indeterminate, acting, assignment, or secondment basis) and / or security clearances (reliability or secret) within Statistics Canada.

    In order to be considered, your application must clearly explain how you meet the following (essential qualifications)

    EDUCATION :

    Graduation with a degree in kinesiology or an acceptable health professional specialization from a recognized post-secondary institution such as nursing or medical radiological technologist.

    OCCUPATIONAL CERTIFICATION :

    Valid certification from a recognized health professional organization. Examples could include the Canadian Society for Exercise Physiology (CSEP) as a Certified Personal Trainer ® (CPT) or Certified Exercise Physiologist ® (CEP), provincial kinesiology certifications, registered nursing certifications, medical radiological technologist certification through the Canadian Association of Medical Radiation Technologist, etc.

    EXPERIENCE : EXP1.

  • Recent Experience leading and supervising a team of employees.
  • EXP2.

  • Recent Experience setting up, calibrating and maintaining physical measures testing equipment.
  • EXP3. Experience in performing direct health measures on a variety of populations such as adults, children, individuals with physical or mental limitations or the elderly following standardized procedures.

    EXP4. Experience in interpreting direct health measures test results and explaining the results to the general public.

  • Recent is defined as having performed the duties within the last five (5) years.

    Working on the move continuously. The Canadian Health Measures Survey Mobile Examination Center travels every six weeks to a new collection site somewhere in Canada.

    Willingness to work shifts (evenings, weekends), holidays and overtime, depending on operational needs.

    Must possess a valid Canadian driver’s license.
