POSITION TYPE CASUAL, DAYS (Mon – Fri)
Duties include (but not limited to) :
- Teaching and role modeling essential life skills for independent living including : Budgeting;Household management (paying bills, cleaning);Meal planning, grocery shopping, meal preparation, safe food handling;Utilizing public transportation;Community resources;Self Care;
- Assisting with achieving educational and / or employment goals, obtaining housing and housing supports, developing safety plans, developing self care strategies, exploring and accessing community resources (including employment programs / training, housing, emergency food) etc.
- Offering opportunities for engaging and practical learning experiences aligned with the goals and objectives specified in the individual case plan
- Ongoing assessment and development of youth / young adult’s life skills
- Cultivating positive connections and rapport with youth / young adults, aiding in the recognition of their strengths to foster personal development, self-esteem, and a feeling of inclusion
- Producing thorough and accurate documentation including case notes, monthly, financial and other reports
- Participating in monthly group programming
- Supporting family and cultural / spiritual connections
Qualifications :
Minimum Gr.12, Diploma / degree in Community Support Worker, Child and Youth Care, Addictions and Community Service, or relevant post secondary education such as counselling, social work etc. Other related programs will be consideredRespectful of cultural diversityKnowledge and understanding of Indigenous History, culture, practices, customs and beliefsExcellent and proven interpersonal and supportive counselling skillsExperience working with at-risk and / or vulnerable youth / young adultsAbility to communicate effectivelyAbility to work independently and in a team environmentValid class 5 Manitoba Drivers licenseDaily use of a Reliable VehicleProficient with Microsoft Office software
